Introduce your pets to the rural landscapes of the North York Moors National Park with a stay at this delightful traditional cottage in Sleights, a North Yorkshire village. You’ll be just 4 miles from Whitby, a popular seaside town with a lovely abbey perched majestically on a cliff – which you can visit with your pup pals on leads. This period home has space for eight guests and two dogs so is wonderful for a multi-generational family trip or holiday among good friends.

Enter through the wooden gates and admire the quintessentially Yorkshire facade before stepping into the spacious and welcoming interior. Low ceilings and pretty ceiling beams create a homely ambience that reminds you you’re in an older property. The farmhouse-style kitchen has everything you need for prepping human and doggie dishes, and a small table for breakfasts and snacks. Meanwhile, the adjacent dining room is all ready to host sociable evening meals. The inviting lounge, containing comfortable sofas and a Smart TV, is ideal for quiet evenings with your pets snoozing at your feet. A twin room and shower room sit on the ground floor, while upstairs on the first floor you’ll find three additional bedrooms – 1 generously sized king-size room, and a further twin and snug double . A charming family bathroom completes this floor. Outside, the enclosed patio provides a safe space for your dogs to roam free while you sip coffee in the fresh air.

Whitby has plenty of dog-friendly beaches where you can take your faithful friends for runarounds, as well as a historic harbour and bustling streets filled with independent shops and cafés. TV fans may wish to visit the village of Goathland (5 miles away) where the 1960s drama ‘Heartbeat’ was filmed. For nature lovers, scenic walks along the Esk Valley (9 miles) and the stunning landscapes of the North York Moors National Park are easily accessible.

Really disappointed by the state of the garden. It's not safe for kids, plenty of areas have tiles or objects that could cut easily. It's overgrown and the "closed" off area is just filled with garden rubbish which didn't make for great viewing. The garden really let this property down. Inside its ok just a bit tired but was comfortable. Some biRead morets of the carpet flooring are coming up so potential trip hazard in the future. Front of the house is overgrown, only 1 of the gates for driveway now there not 2 so cannot close the driveway off. The cable for the gate no longer there is showing up through the stones too. Assuming no electricity is in that cable. Just again not maintained like the front garden which really let's this property down. We are going into summer months so its surprising that it was not cut off maintained at this time of year for guests. Hide

Nice characterful cottage, with lovely dining room and lounge. We enjoyed the stay. Kitchen is good too but if you want to cook for 6 or more it could do with a few more cooking essentials. Although there is parking for 2 cars it is v awkward - you need to either back in or back out on to a busy road. Overall a good place to enjoy the moors and Read morecoast. Hide

Cottage was adequate inside for 4 adults and 2 dogs with good space and fairly clean. Close to all attractions with the Moors and Coast within easy reach.
