Introduce your four-legged friends to the Peak District with a stay at this charming country cottage in Carsington. Known for its large reservoir (2 miles), Carsington is a wonderful spot for water sports like canoeing and paddleboarding, as well as excellent walks around this pretty body of water. The national park starts around 4 miles away, offering wonderful opportunities for walking routes that both humans and canines will adore.

Sleeping six, this beautifully presented home features three bedrooms all with lovely views. The main living spaces are decorated in a tasteful style, with some original features still intact, such as charming wooden beams. You’ll have two lounges, the first featuring a cosy open wood burner where your pets can warm their whiskers after tiring days out. The spacious kitchen/dining room has a large glass extension that fills the space with natural light and provides a beautiful view for birdwatching. The three bedrooms are all upstairs: a king, a twin, and a single room with an extra trundle bed. A pretty bathroom completes the set up. In the front and rear gardens, enjoy views over Carsington Water while your pets roll around on the grass.

You’ll have a pub 350 metres away and plenty more amenities in Wirksworth (3 miles), a market town with interesting architecture and independent shops. For further exploration with your canine friend, the quaint towns of Matlock Bath (6 miles) and Ashbourne (7 miles) are nearby. Within the national park, Black Rocks (4 miles) is an excellent base for walks, while the natural cavern at Thor’s Cave (13 miles) is also one to sniff out. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you won’t want to miss out on a trip to Bakewell (12.5 miles), known for its delightful puddings.

Just returned from a lovely stay at Rowan cottage. Beautiful location and great walks on the door step. Cottage is comfortable and clean. Beds were very comfortable. The gardens were very over grown and the garden furniture has seen better days, but this did not bother us too much. We would definitely return.

Positives: good location, comfortable beds, effective heating, good wifi and kitchen equipment. Negatives: rubbish build up (both external bins were overflowing with bags out in the open being attacked by the resident jackdaws). More cobwebs than Peter Parkers house. Beautiful spacious cottage! Super comfy beds! Stunning location. Just wished it was a bit cleaner. I would recommend though.

This is a beautiful cottage in a stunning area. There is a fab pub really close by in the village and walks straight from the house.

This is a beautiful cottage in the most picturesque setting in a quaint little village on the edge of Carsington Water. Ideal for walkers, beautiful views of the lake from upstairs, lovely outside seating areas. Very spacious and comfortable inside with bright and airy kitchen dining conservatory. A lovely little cottage, nestled in the hillside not far from Carsington Water. An easy location to head out for a walk around the water and perfectly located for the Miners Arms which serves great food and has loads of outside space to eat and drink. We had a lovely time at Rowan Cottage and would thoroughly recommend it. There was everything we needed, including dishwasher, laundry and washing-up liquid, also a goody basket with tea bags, coffee pods, biscuits and chocolate! Beds were comfy and bedding/towels were of good quality. We were also blessed with lovely weather. Parking on the narRead morerow road outside the cottage was challenging at times as we have a big car. The only downside for us was the awful journeys we had there and back because of roadworks and heavy traffic! Hide

Cottage is in a beautiful location with gorgeous views . It was spoilt by the lack of attention to cleaning including dirty door mat and kitchen windows, sticky kitchen floor, dusty ornaments and stained duvet on the double bed . There are also maintenance issues that require attention which we have reported including windows that are very harRead mored to open and shut . We did speak to the holiday letting company on arrival and they offered to send cleaners to deep clean I had already cleaned and suggested that they make sure it was all rectified before the next people arrived. With a bit of attention this could be a great place stay . Hide
