Take a break in the Peak District and discover endless adventures and dog-friendly spots just a short distance from this charming retreat for two. With original brickwork around the fireplace, an old school chalkboard, and a lovingly restored cupboard that nods to its past, discover a wonderful blend of old meets new at this warm and welcoming home.

Inside, the kitchen overlooks the living area, creating a harmonious, open-plan space that wraps around the magnificent picture windows. A versatile sofa bed provides a cosy place to relax after a day of adventures with your hound, and the dining table for four is ready for sociable meal times or games in the evening. Upstairs, a delightful mezzanine double bedroom, open to the living room below, has lovely views and extra storage. A contemporary, tiled bathroom completes the property. Outside, you’ll find sheltered bistro seating at the front and back, offering a spot to relax with your canine companion by your side while you watch the world go by. Parking for two cars allocated outside the property.

Start your day with a trip to Matlock Bath (3.5 miles), known for its scenic riverside paths and idyllic surroundings, perfect for a walk with your furry friend. Take a ride on the Heights of Abraham cable car for breathtaking views (dogs ride free!), or explore the caves below. 2 miles away, Matlock offers a welcoming atmosphere, with pet-friendly cafes, independent shops, and Hall Leys Park—a lovely place to let your pup stretch their legs by the pond. History buffs can learn about the industrial era at Sir Richard Arkwright''s Cromford Mill (4.5 miles), where dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas. Nearby, the UNESCO Derwent Valley Mills is a fascinating day out, and in autumn, the Matlock Illuminations add an extra sparkle to your evenings. Matlock is also your gateway to the stunning Peak District National Park, where trails, hills, and wide-open spaces await adventurous hounds. You and your pooch can also hop aboard a heritage steam train at Peak Rail (2 miles) or venture to Bakewell (6.5 miles) to sample the famous pudding.

This is a lovely property and great location for couples. I wouldn't recommend it for those with young infants as you struggle to get it dark enough for their naps and due to the open plan nature of the property you can't separate out noise. But otherwise a great location, easy parking and clean.

A lovely, clean and comfortable cottage. We stayed for 4 weeks over Christmas and New Year as we have family living in the area. It was a terrific base for all that is to be seen in the local area. The cottage is very well kitted out - even though we weren't doing a lot of cooking, the kitchen has everything you might need.
