A charming cottage on the edge of Settle, an attractive market town that sits between The Yorkshire Dales National Park and Forest of Bowland AONB. The dog-friendly cottage, which is perfect for families, features a cosy living room, a country-style kitchen and an enclosed garden.
The two-storey cottage dates back to the 1850s and retains many of its original features. Set down a narrow street, it is surrounded by similarly characterful cottages and a maze of paths that lead towards the town centre and the undulating hills surrounding it. The cottage’s cosy rooms have all been styled traditionally, with “sneck” doors and wood-beamed ceilings evident throughout. The living room becomes even more inviting when the wood burner is lit, the ideal way to rest tired limbs after long days out. The country-style kitchen is the place to conjure delicious meals made using local produce, with access to the garden close by. Upstairs, a small bathroom, a well-appointed double bedroom and a twin bedroom await tired travellers in need of a good night’s rest. The attractive garden to the rear of the cottage is well-suited to alfresco drinks.
Settle (500 metres) is a haven for dog walkers, trail runners and mountain bikers, many of whom use it as a base to explore The Yorkshire Dales National Park and Forest of Bowland AONB (within 10 miles). The market town is home to a number of dog-friendly shops and pubs all serving local fare. Steam train enthusiasts and their dogs regularly visit the town to travel along the iconic railway line to Carlisle, which snakes its way through scenic countryside on route.
