This peaceful, one-bedroom shepherd’s hut is located on the banks of the River Tamar in glorious Cornwall. Surrounded by countryside and overlooking Gooseford Lakes, it’s a scenic, delightful country retreat for a couple and one dog seeking relaxation and countryside and coastal activities.

A few steps lead up to the hut and inside is cosy and neat with wooden flooring, tasteful furnishings, and plenty of natural light. After a day spent exploring the landscape, relax on the two-seater, cushioned bench, and chat to your loved one or enjoy a film on the TV. In warm weather, leave the door open and let the fresh countryside air flow in while Fido roams outside. On chilly nights your pup will want to stretch out in front of the pebble-effect electric fire. When it’s time to eat, create a delicious meal in the neat, galley kitchen and then dine at the breakfast bar or step outside and eat at the table overlooking the orchard and woodland. After a wholesome meal, retire to the comfortable king-size bedroom and with nothing to disturb you, you’ll be sure of a good night’s sleep. In the morning, start your day with a rejuvenating soak in the shower room. Outside, enjoy an al fresco breakfast while listening to the birdsong in the trees and let Fido sniff out new scents in the fenced garden.

Explore the stunning countryside with walking trails straight from the door or take a stroll along the banks of the River Tamar. Alternatively, jump on a boat at Cotehele Quay and cruise along the water with your dog. For a day at the beach, head to Whitsand Bay and let Fido run along the sand. Your pup can also splash in the sea at Downderry and Seaton Beach (all within 11 miles).

The setting is idyllic and the hut is bijou, but cozy and well kitted out. We had a fabulous stay and found it a great jumping off point to see the local sights.

A quaint essentially minimalistic place to stay. Perfectly adequate and comfortable, we (me, my wife and dog) stayed in Hobbs Hut for seven nights. Beautiful location, silent and ideally located as a base for exploring Cornwall with most places to visit about 1hr away by car.. A lovely host (Rachel) made all the difference. I would recommend this tRead moreranquil venue. Hide

Delightful, cozy and comfortable Shepherd's hut in idyllic surroundings. The hut is compact but had everything I needed to enjoy a perfect week. There is outdoor space to sit and gaze over the fields enjoying views of the horses and Beano the Shetland pony while eating or having a drink. Ideal location for exploring Dartmoor as well as the Cornish Read morecoast and countryside. The hosts and everyone else I encountered in the area were friendly and super helpful and I really enjoyed my stay. Hide
