This quintessentially Yorkshire cottage is a relic of times gone by, with its gorgeous stone exterior and nostalgic period style. Its location in Garsdale, deep in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, is ideal for dog owners. You’ll have wonderful walking trails leading right from your front door, and iconic sites such as the Aysgarth Falls and Ribblehead Viaduct within 16 miles. With space for four to five guests and one dog, it’s an excellent choice for a family keen for a restorative break with their pet being very much part of the fun.
Previously a farmhouse, the property features plenty of its original features such as flagstone flooring and ceiling beams. It’s been beautifully renovated and kitted out with latched doors, quality wooden flooring and vintage-style furniture to keep its rustic allure. The heart of the home is the open-plan kitchen/dining area. On chilly nights, light up the wood-burning stove to keep man and dog cosy. A separate snug on the ground floor has a second wood-burning stove and a Smart TV – perfect for enjoying some easy entertainment in the evenings. When you fancy some fresh air, there are two outside seating areas: the first is just a few metres away from woodland and a red squirrel feeder. The other is in an enclosed area where your dog will be safe to roam free, as you lap up awe-inspiring views along Garsdale.
The area is teeming with wildlife, and you may even spot rare species such as red squirrels from your holiday home. Less than 0.5 miles away, at Garsdale Railway Station, you can pick up a steam train along the Settle to Carlisle railway lines, one of the most scenic rail routes in the UK. You’ll find a dog-friendly pub for refuelling 1 mile away, and plenty of shops, pubs and cafés in Hawes (7 miles).
