This charming property, situated in the heart of Suffolk in the village of Debenham, is the perfect countryside retreat for two – and the dog, of course! Sleeping you both in a stunning four-poster double bed with plenty of space for the pup to snooze, this cottage dates back to 1480 and is filled with original features. Spend the afternoon exploring Framlingham Castle (8.5 miles) before returning home and cooking a delicious meal in the stunning farmhouse-style kitchen that features a Rangemaster cooker.

The property, which was once one large house but has since been split into three cottages, is cosy and inviting. The spacious kitchen is fresh and bright with a delightful wooden table to enjoy meals at, while exposed beams and neutral decor in the lounge beckon you to sink into the sofa in front of the wood burner, the pup curled up by your feet. A large walk-in shower awaits in the shower room that’s decorated in a nautical style. Up the characterful winding wooden staircase, you’ll find the fantastic bedroom; a four-poster bed invites you in among high vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and peaceful tones to help you drift off to sleep. In the morning, head out to the private garden with the dog and enjoy your morning coffee at the bistro table.

Debenham is a beautiful village, with streets lined with timber-framed houses and a delightful parish church. Enjoy lunch in the dog-friendly pub across the road before heading out to explore. Take a ride on the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway (4.5 miles) and explore the museum. Dogs are also welcome to explore the 245 acres of Sutton Hoo (15.5 miles) which is well worth a visit if you love history. Ipswich is only 13.5 miles away and you’ll find plenty of shopping and dining opportunities here.

Great little old world cottage. Bedroom floor slopes a bit so don't have a lot to drink before bedtime!

A quaint pretty looking property, but not sure that's enough to make it 4 star, more a 3 compared to others i've stayed in! The only source of heating in the lounge is the multi fuel burner, which means on cooler days you have to light the fire when another option would be preferable. Although a nice looking typical period cottage, the sloping flooRead morers take some getting use to! Hide

Great central location in Debenham. But the Cottage is very old, the bedroom floor slopes, the bed is a small double and creaky, and the wooden stairs are extremely narrow, steep and dangerous. The only heating is from electric heaters or the log fire.

Fabulous quirky cottage in a great location and in a gorgeous village. We had everything we needed in the cottage and it felt cosy and comfortable. We would happily have stayed longer.

This cottage with all of its quirks is such a good find and we will be returning. Debenham is also a fantastic discovery and such a treat.

This is an incredible property which really fascinated me as I tried to imagine who may have lived there in years gone by. I did find the stairs troublesome due to their steepness but other than that I thought it was well equipped with a lovely kitchen and bathroom.

Perfect for a holiday let. Ideally situated in the centre of the village and very comfortable. We had perfect weather and sat outside to eat each evening in the little courtyard area. Only problem could be for anyone less able. The staircase is narrow and windy which makes it impossible to take suitcases upstairs to the bedroom. Apart from that iRead moret was perfect. Hide
