Watch your deliriously happy dog race in and out of the waves when you stay at this homely retreat in Broad Haven, West Wales. Sleeping five guests, the three-bedroom cottage, which captures sea views, is less than 150 metres from the sandy beach, which is always dog-friendly at its southern end. Enjoy hikes along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from here too and return to enjoy the sunshine and sea air in the enclosed garden.
Make your way into the cottage via a side door into the kitchen. Top up your chum’s water bowl, feed him his dinner and put the kettle on for everyone else to have a cup of tea to go with the Welsh cakes you have bought. Head through to the lounge/diner to relax together in front of the TV, while your contented canine steals a quiet 40 winks. Dine in here later on then perhaps take your pet through to the snug area with you if you fancy watching something different on TV. There is also a family bathroom at this level. Leave your four-legged friend dozing downstairs and make your way up to the single bedroom, the bunk bedroom or the double, which has an en-suite shower room, a TV and views out towards the sea. Call your eager chum out into the lawned garden in the morning to bound about as you sip your coffee and enjoy a slow start to the day.
Take your pet for a gentle coastal stroll of just 1 mile, from Broad Haven to Little Haven. Energetic pups might prefer to stretch their furry legs with a much longer hike of 11 miles to Martin’s Haven, with its views over to Skomer Island. Drive 8 miles to Marloes Sands to let your happy hound bound across the open beach.
