With wonderful views of the North Wales countryside, this peaceful converted barn is a great rural getaway for friends or a family, with flexible sleeping accommodation to accommodate different ages and groupings. Get active in the great outdoors then return to the comfortable lounge with its warming wood burner.
With timber or tiled floors throughout, this welcoming cottage is an easy-going space where the whole family – and your canine companion – can relax and enjoy themselves. Its bright, fresh dining room is served by a hatch from the compact kitchen and, after supper, you can while away the evenings in front of the wood burner in the cosy lounge. Also on the ground floor is the bedroom with three single beds, ideal for young children, while upstairs there are two further bedrooms – a king-size and a double – plus a bathroom and a shower room which they all share. If you bring your bikes, you can store them in the lean-to at the side of the property, where there’s also a useful freezer. Although there is no private garden, you’re welcome to explore the 150 acres of farmland as well as a variety of scenic walks from the doorstep.
The farm is located 1 mile from the village of Maerdy, which has a pub, farm shop, cafe and restaurant, and 3 miles from Glanrafon, where you can access an ancient drovers’ road and the Berwyn Way. From Corwen, 4 miles, you can jump on a heritage train along the scenic Dee Valley to Llangollen (14 miles from the cottage), a small market town in a picturesque setting. Here, there’s a wealth of independent shops and a wide range of places to eat, overlooked by the ruins of 13th-century Castell Dinas Bran – it’s a challenging hike to the top, rewarded by a fabulous view.
