"This is a really charming place - sundowners on a balcony overlooking countryside, walks from the door, well designed and equipped and with a lovely host. It really is magical if you want to experience peace and quiet in the Suffolk countryside (and is also within very reasonable reach of the coast)". - Elspeth MacArthur

A striking wood-panelled lodge enveloped by leafy trees and boasting far-reaching views across the Suffolk countryside. Set in a blissfully secluded location, this romantic escape is perfect for couples seeking a retreat in nature with their faithful companions. Get noses twitching as you stroll through the lush flower gardens of Helmingham Hall (3.5 miles), then throw open the balcony doors to enjoy an al fresco supper with a tranquil country backdrop.

This unique property boasts a stylish country interior with stable doors, airy open-plan living, and polished wooden textures. Park up in the private gravel driveway then ascend the steep staircase to the cottage entrance. Unclip harnesses and towel off muddy coats before stepping into the inviting lounge/kitchen/diner. Raid the kitchen cabinets for a post-adventure snack then pop a celebratory bottle of bubbly perched at the glossy island. Prop open the patio doors to indulge your curious canine in a spot of afternoon sniffing from the balcony. As the night draws in, top off glasses and settle in for candlelit dinner around the dining table. After dinner, retire to the comfort of the lounge area and snuggle up on the sofa with a favourite film. Curl up in the soft sheets of the super king bedroom, complete with an elegant wrought-iron bed frame and private balcony access. Start the day with freshly brewed coffee on the deck before sniffing out the woodland paths nearby.

Fun-loving hounds will go mutts for an afternoon exploring the streets of Debenham (6 miles) and scoffing some pub grub alongside the dog-loving locals at the friendly watering holes. Inhale the salty ocean air as you saunter along the glistening harbour of Orford (23 miles) or bound on the shingly shores of Aldeburgh Beach (25 miles).

We have just returned from a wonderful and very peaceful stay at Moat Barn. It's like home from home with everything you need. The property is very clean and the bed enormous and comfortable. The balcony is wonderful for sitting out and watching the deer and birds. There are nice walks from the barn. We found an amazing pub called The Cretingham Read moreBell which served lovely food with a beautiful garden to sit out in. Sara the owner greeted us upon arrival and left cider, cake and fresh flowers. When we asked for 2 more pillows she brought them round instantly. If you want peace and quiet in the country then this is the place to visit, we hope to return. Hide

A lovely cottage in a great location, within easy reach of many local attractions. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the deer in the field opposite.

If you want absolute peace & quiet then this is the place to be. Perfect location to wind down away from the everyday rush. If you want a pub and a shop close by then look elsewhere, but plan ahead and bring your own supplies and you can spend your days relaxing, unwinding and exploring the countryside.

Had a lovely week here, very comfortable and well equipped and the balcony overlooking the fields, was gorgeous, got to see deer and foxes as well as the squirrels and birds visiting the bird feeder on the balcony. A lovely place to stay with total peace and quiet.
