A handsome brick and flint property with a secluded enclosed lawn, set in the idyllic Norfolk village of Docking. This breezy coastal escape is guaranteed to be a hit with adventure-seekers and up to four waggy-tailed travellers. Beach babes can snuffle in rockpools on the stripey cliff-backed shores of Old Hunstanton Beach (8 miles), before scoffing a bowl of al fresco kibble in the garden.

This thoughtfully designed home boasts a fresh ocean-inspired interior with crisp neutral tones, striped fabrics, and seascape artwork. Unclip harnesses and dry sandy paws in the elegant entranceway. Pad into the airy kitchen/diner and raid the shaker cabinets for an afternoon snack and select a meaty chew for Fido. Perch at the cosy breakfast table with a brew or congregate in the light-dappled dining space for a sociable supper. In summer months, pop a bottle of bubbly and throw open the patio doors to enjoy a balmy indoor-outdoor living experience. Step beneath the open archway into the stylish lounge and stretch out on the plush seating. Crack open the chocolates or unwind with a film while your pup stretches their paws by the roaring wood burner. When night arrives, rest up in the three beautifully styled bedrooms with thick throws and plump pillows. Choose from a ground-floor double or ascend the stairs to discover an en-suite double and a bright twin. After being hounded out for a morning saunter, tuck into warm pastries and fresh coffee on the wooden garden furniture.

Enjoy sandy-pawed zoomies along the swoop of golden sand at Brancaster (5 miles) before settling in for a round with the hound. Scamper through salt marshes and spot the thriving wildlife inhabiting Holkham National Nature Reserve (10 miles) or set noses twitching as you explore the ephemeral ponds of Syderstone Common (6 miles).

The Gatekeepers is a lovely cottage. There was plenty of room for us to park three cars as we were came from three families. The garden and house were perfect for the dogs and throws were provided if the dogs wanted to sit on the sofas with us. The lounge was spacious and the sofas comfortable to lounge on. All the things we needed were provided anRead mored the dishwasher tabs and welcome pack was much appreciated. The area is perfect for getting to some great beaches without a long journey. There are also three National Trust properties within an hours drive. My husband is disabled and the house was perfect for him as it was easily accessible and has a downstairs bedroom. We had problems with none of the tvs working when we arrived but two were sorted the next day. One of the others was sorted the day before we left and the other was broken. It didnt matter to us too much as long as we had the main tv. Something that may be helpful to know is that it isnt a combination boiler so dont all have a bath or shower at the same time as I ended up having to rinse my hair in cold water when I was in the shower. I would recommend this house and would certainly go there again. Hide

We had a lovely stay at the cottage and found the location excellent. The beach at Brancaster was only a short drive away and the Railway Inn pub across the road was an added bonus.

We had a wonderful family Christmas at the Gatekeepers. There was a Christmas tree and decorations in place when we arrived, which was lovely. The bedrooms are comfy. Great to have enough bathrooms, showers and a bath. The kitchen was well equipped and we didn't struggle to prepare a Christmas dinner because there was everything we needed. The liviRead moreng room was comfy to relax in and we played family games at the dinning room table. Our three family dogs had a fantastic stay and were safe in the garden. There was good parking for the cars too. Handy to have a pub across the road and the useful village shop just up the road. Hide
