Feel invigorated and refreshed after a short stint at the seaside, staying in Yorkshire’s Staithes with your beloved man’s best friend by your side. This former fisherman’s cottage offers an enviable place to stay for four guests and one pup, ideal for families or couples seeking long dog walks, days on the beach and endless excursions in the North York Moors. Leave no stick unfetched along the long-distance Cleveland Way walking route, making your way towards Whitby (10.5 miles) and stopping off at seaside villages, pretty beaches and pet-welcoming country pubs en route.
Beautifully decorated with rich tones and elegant textures, this bijou terrace is a top dog abode. Put your best paw forward and step inside, stopping off in the lounge where cosy evenings can be spent. Let Rover curl up in the snuggest spot by the wood burner, gently drifting off with the hum of the Smart TV in the background. We’re sure pointy ears will prick up as you get up and move into the kitchen/diner next door, your pup no doubt searching for scraps or snacks. The two bedrooms, both doubles, are positioned on the first and second floors, accompanied by a bathroom on floor one. Outside, a small courtyard completes the property.
Cobbled streets, pokey boutiques and incredible sea views add to the overall charm of Staithes. Enjoy wandering around the village on a morning dog walk, before embarking on a further-flung expedition. To visit your nearest beach, visit the hidden gem village of Runswick Bay (3 miles). With a small arc of sandy shore, this is a great spot to let your dog off the lead for a splash in the sea. Further along the coast, on the way to Whitby, Sandsend (7.5 miles) offers a much wider beach with plenty of space for ballgames and fetch.
