Set within generous grounds and with meadow walks from the doorstep, this beautiful barn is a splendid base for a multi-generational break with friends or family. Two stylish living spaces, four blissful bedrooms – some on the ground floor – and a host of family-friendly extras elevate the holiday experience. Two pets can join in the fun too.
Surrounded by trees and a wildlife-rich meadow, this impressive countryside retreat is ideal for relaxation time with your nearest, dearest and, of course, your favourite dogs. At the heart of it is a stunning farmhouse-style kitchen, complete with a breakfast table, a large island unit and the all-essential oil-fired AGA. A tiled floor will keep hot dogs cool when the days are balmy, and it’s just a few steps out onto the terrace where there’s a BBQ for al fresco feasts and relaxed dining. For more formal mealtimes, move into the dining room – afterwards, you can play the piano or a board game and when the dogs need to sleep, they can slope off to the utility room where there’s space for them to stretch out as well as storage for boots and coats. Alternatively, unwind in a choice of two social spaces – one is a snug with comfortable sofas, a Smart TV, and a library of great books and films, while the other is a more formal sitting room with its own Smart TV and a wood burner. When it’s time to retire, two bedrooms are on the ground floor, each with a versatile super-king-size zip-and-link bed. Both have lovely views of the garden and shared use of the ground-floor bathroom. Upstairs are two further bedrooms: a cosy double that has use of the shower room close by, and a sizeable king-size room with gorgeous meadow views and an en-suite bathroom. The barn is set within generous grounds. To the front is a pretty garden that catches the morning sunshine, while the rear garden looks over the meadows and is ideal for al fresco dining, sunset drinks and games on the lawn. A ping pong table in the garage and further outdoor games boost the fun factor.
Stroll through the meadow and along the river to the pub in Ufford (1.5 miles) or visit Rendlesham Forest (2.5 miles) where there are children''s play areas, places to picnic and a walking trail that uncovers details of a 1980 UFO sighting here. Just over 4 miles away, Woodbridge is a thriving market town; visit the ancient Tide Mill beside the River Deben or drive 3.5 miles to the opposite bank where Sutton Hoo is the UK’s most important Anglo-Saxon site. Orford (9 miles) has a 12th-century castle keep and a fascinating nature reserve, plus a delicious bakery, a traditional smokehouse and a pretty waterfront.
