This superb barn conversion would make an ideal destination for families or groups of friends, while your canine companion will love the safely enclosed garden. It’s located in the tranquil village of Hawkedon and has fabulous country views.

The ground floor of this beautifully restored barn has been opened up to create an all-in-one living space, with a fitted kitchen flowing through to a generous dining area and then the lounge, where squishy sofas are gathered around the wood burner and Smart TV. There’s even space for a small desk at one end of the room. With underfloor heating and carefully coordinated colours, it’s an elegantly welcoming space for you to make yourselves at home. A twin bedroom and a separate shower room with a WC are also set on the ground floor, while the other two bedrooms, both king-size, are upstairs. Very spacious, they have characterful exposed beams, high, sloping ceilings and ample storage. One has a Smart TV and its own en-suite shower room, while the other uses a beautiful bathroom with a period-style, roll-top bath. The enclosed garden has a lawn that’s perfect for sniffing around and chasing tails, while the humans watch from the seating area and enjoy the fresh air and stunning views.

Hawkedon is a quintessential Suffolk village with timber-framed cottages around a village green, and a welcoming 15th-century pub serving excellent food and drink. Stroll the footpaths to neighbouring villages or drive to the National Trust’s idyllic Ickworth, 8 miles, where dogs are welcome in the parkland, woodland and at Porter’s Lodge café, the ideal place to start or finish your walk. Historic Bury St Edmunds is only 9 miles away, and the beautiful wool towns of Lavenham, Clare and Long Melford are all within 10 miles.

We had a fabulous stay and loved the cottage. It has been very well appointed and was very comfortable. The log-burning stove was a real bonus in the evenings.

An extremely well equipped converted barn. We loved the open layout and as we self catered our group was altogether during the cooking stages. Lovely, comfortable barn conversion in tip top condition. Beautifully clean and with everything we needed for a super stay in the Suffolk countryside. The property was well furnished and equipped. Located in a very small village with no shop and a pub that operates limited hours. That being said, plenty of shops and nice pubs are located in nearby Read morevillages just a short drive away. We really looked forward to returning to the property each evening after days out exploring Long Melford, Sudbury, Clare, Lavenham etc, all of which are within easy reach. We found the local town of Clare to be all we needed to stock our fridge and we manage a couple of Indian food deliveries from Melford Valley Indian, which we all thought was great. The property was warm, in fact we turned the heating down as we found it too much but then we opened the windows and lit the wood burner, much cosier for an evening in playing board games.
