This charming shepherd’s hut, an ideal couples’ retreat, is located in the delightful village of Aysgarth, in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, next door to a tearoom which opens daily during the summer. The village also has a pub and a shop (at the garage). The three famous waterfalls at Aysgarth Falls are just a mile away, with several easy paths winding their way through the nature reserve to reach them. Bolton Castle (4.5 miles) is one of the country’s best-preserved medieval castles, and Richmond Castle (16 miles) contrasts as a great Norman fortress; finish off either day out with a trip to Wensleydale Creamery, 9 miles away, where you can watch the famous crumbly Yorkshire cheese being made.
Combining the very best of old and new, this timber-framed shepherd's hut has been designed with great care to create a comfortable and stylish space for an unforgettable holiday. Insulated with sheep’s wool to keep it cosy and warm in the winter and cool in the summer months, it really is a year-round destination. Having wandered through the orchards to reach the hut, enter up the steps and via the decked terrace into the open-plan space, which combines lounge, dining, kitchen and bedroom. The built-in double bed is at one end, with storage to the sides and above, while at the opposite end is a compact kitchen into which are fitted all the elements necessary for creating holiday meals. There’s a dining table and chairs for two, a comfortable sofa which converts to a sofa bed for children if required, and a TV for cosy nights in. Underfloor heating adds an extra level of comfort. A separate shower room with a double rainfall-head shower completes this charming property.
Immediately outside your hut, a raised, decked area with dining furniture and a pair of armchairs has the most wonderful views – a glorious spot in which to sit on a summer’s evening and enjoy an al fresco meal, or simply breathe the fresh air while listening to the sounds of the countryside. If you fancy an evening stroll and a drink there is the choice of two village pubs to enjoy.
