A charming cottage on a traditional Somerset farm, this property has a pair of peaceful en-suite bedrooms, a pretty garden, and welcomes a trio of waggy-tailed guests. Located close to the iconic Tarr Steps, it can be booked alongside two other holiday homes for a bigger group getaway in the great outdoors.
Ideal for a holiday with friends or family, this idyllic stone cottage – set on a working farm in the heart of Exmoor – offers all the comforts and convenience of home. Step into the entrance lobby and you’ll find a handy cloakroom, closely followed by an open-plan lounge/dining room with a paw-warming wood burner at one end. A separate country-style kitchen has all the essentials for an effortless self-catering stay – leave the door between the two rooms open and your pets can keep an eye on everyone! Stairs lead up from the lounge to a mezzanine level where there’s a spacious family bedroom with one single and one double bed, plus an en-suite bathroom. At the opposite end of the lounge, five steps lead down to the second bedroom, this one with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom. A small, enclosed patio and the lawned area extends your living space, and guests here have additional access to a larger shared lawn with a lake – lovely for a wind-down stroll at the end of a busy day but do, please, keep pets and young ones under supervision.
The Liscombe area is a walkers’ paradise and the adventures can begin from your own doorstep: the ancient clapper bridge of Tarr Steps – a Scheduled Ancient Monument that spans the River Barle – is less than a mile away. Dogs will love sniffing around the woodland in the National Nature Reserve here but if you want to wander further afield, head for Dulverton (6 miles), a lively market town where there’s a fine selection of independent shops, tearooms, pubs and restaurants to reward your efforts. Alternatively, enjoy a change of terrain – and a range of water sports – at 530-acre Wimbleball Lake, 9.5 miles from your holiday home.
