Let your top dogs have a ball at this single-storey cottage in the pretty Norfolk village of Martham. Sleeping three humans across two bedrooms and welcoming two happy hounds, this is a great choice for a couple or small family. When the sun is shining, let your pups sniff out the best spots in the enclosed garden and when it’s time to get cosy, gather around the crackling wood burner inside.
After a wonderful day scampering along the golden beaches of the Norfolk coast, you won’t be able to resist curling up in the open-plan lounge/dining room with Rex and Rover warming their tummies beside the fire. Take a seat on the sofa and settle in for a film on the Smart TV. A dining table by the window is the perfect spot for relaxed dinners, cooked in the well-equipped kitchen, adjacent. And when you can’t keep your eyes open any longer, sink beneath the sheets in one of the two bedrooms, a king-size and a single. Completing the interior of the cottage is a family bathroom. Outside, an enclosed rear garden awaits games of fetch and there’s a table and chairs on the raised decking for al fresco drinks on warm days.
Less than a mile from the cottage is the village green, which is surrounded by a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. Martham is tucked away on the southern fringe of the Broads National Park, and there is a treasure trove of scenic walkies and even dog-friendly boat trips along its 125 miles of waterways. Or if you’d prefer a day on the sand, the coast is only 3.5 miles away. The dune-backed beach of Winterton-on-Sea is a highlight, or you could venture 5 miles from the cottage to Horsey Gap, home to a common seal colony (restrictions apply during the winter months when there are fluffy seal pups).
