Discover your inner salty sea dog with a stay at this granite fisherman’s cottage, less than 400 metres from Porthleven’s lively harbour. With accommodation across three storeys, it’s the perfect coastal pad for a small family or trio of friends and their faithful friend.
Beautifully renovated in late 2022, this terraced cottage retains many character features that are complemented by all the contemporary must-haves. Enter at ground floor level and you’ll be welcomed into a comfortable living room with exposed floorboards and a wood burner that evokes cosy nights in. A wooden staircase leads down to a smartly styled kitchen/dining room with a tiled floor that will keep Fido’s paws cool, and a door onto the small, enclosed courtyard which could be handy for drying his feet after a day of seaside adventures. A modern shower room shares the space on this level. Back in the living room, a second staircase heads up to two bedrooms – the main one has a vaulted ceiling and a king-size bed while the second has a single bed to suit either an adult or child.
Just a few streets uphill from Porthleven harbour, your holiday cottage is ideally located for walks around the UK’s most southerly working port. Fido’s tail will be wagging at the scent of fishing boats landing their daily catch – much of it destined for the town’s cafes, restaurants and fishmongers. Explore the rock pools that are revealed at low tide close to the harbour entrance, or enjoy a stroll along the pier wall for a breathtaking view of the famous clock tower, Porthleven Beach and Mount’s Bay. Mesmerising St Michael’s Mount is just off the shoreline of Marazion, 9 miles away, while 14 miles in the other direction is one of Cornwall’s most iconic landmarks: Lizard Point.
