  • Beautiful views out over green fields, farmland and the picturesque rolling Derbyshire Dales
  • Immaculate garden, with sun-soaked patio for long summer lunches and evening drinks
Property code: OC-DCRAIL

The idyllic cottage is the perfect bolthole for couples and small families looking to switch off and recharge. With exquisite views of the surrounding countryside, you’ll be inspired to get out and explore with your canine chum. There are some fantastic walking trails nearby, including the High Peak Trail, which passes directly outside the property.

Parking for the former railway cottage is 160 metres away and a trolley is provided to wheel your luggage to the front door. Step inside to a warm and welcoming lounge/kitchen/diner with gorgeous original features and country-cottage decor. The space is bright and airy and decorative leaded windows look out onto rolling countryside. The woofer will adore the cosy underfloor heating, and there’s also a wood burner for them to doze beside. Cook up a storm in the traditional kitchen area and enjoy memorable mealtimes around the elegant dining table. After dinner, sink into the sumptuous sofa to watch a film on the Smart TV. Completing the ground floor is a handy utility room, which opens onto the garden. Upstairs, two beautiful bedrooms await, along with the family shower room. The generous garden has a lawn where the pup can play and a sunny patio with furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining. There’s also an outdoor tap for cleaning muddy paws and walking boots.

Enjoy a peaceful afternoon pottering around Hopton Quarry Nature Reserve (1 mile). It’s a beautiful spot for a picnic with your furry friend and is a great place for wildlife watching. In spring and summer, you can also admire the fabulous orchids that are dotted throughout the quarry. The pretty market town of Wirksworth is 2.5 miles away. Wander through its narrow streets, admire the imposing stone buildings, and ride on the steam trains of the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.

A beautiful cottage, very well equipped with everything you would need. Karen was very helpful. We were unlucky in that we didnt have hot water for the first two days and although this was partly rectified the water was never hot enough, The trolley to bring our stuff in was broken so it was a difficult trek to get into the accommodation with our bRead moreelongings. The bathroom was chilly as the towel rail needed bleeding. These niggles apart the cottage is beautiful and well equipped in a stunning if remote location. Hide

Cottage is on noisy road and there are wind turbines near, so we did not use the garden However, inside the cottage you are insulated from the noise The High Peak Trail passes the front of the cottage so is a walking and cycling Mecca We had a great week
