A characterful 400-year-old cottage with a thatched roof and superb views over the Caha mountains and Kenmare Bay. It’s full of original features, from exposed stone walls to rustic beams, and this retreat even boasts elegant furniture that reflects the property’s heritage feel. Two bedrooms and plenty of outdoor space makes this the perfect family and pet-friendly home, welcoming four guests and a canine companion.

Enter this authentically renovated, single-storey cottage to unwind in charming surroundings. To one end you’ll find the practical kitchen/diner, which has everything you need to create and eat delicious meals. The living area is wonderfully welcoming with plenty of comfortable seating. Warm up chilly paws and toes with the roaring wood burner, set in the inglenook fireplace. A handy utility room with laundry facilities is also provided, so you can do any washing you might need to do. When you are ready for some sleep, there are two double bedrooms and a Jack and Jill bathroom with a bath and WC. Outside is a spacious, lawned garden where the dog can roam as you soak up the stunning views.

Head off on foot and sniff out adventures along the walking routes through the scenic countryside and along the pretty coastline. Visit the colourful town of Kenmare (5 miles) which has some fabulous eateries and some dog-friendly pubs with large gardens. Within the town, you can see the historic stone circle, Cromwell’s Bridge, and the pretty Reenagross Woodland Park. Lead the way to adventure along The Ring of Kerry, a circuit that you can drive around, stopping at scenic walking spots along the way.
