This remote cottage enjoys an idyllic setting on the slopes of Coomcallee Mountain, on the southern edge of the Iveragh Peninsula. It’s the perfect setting for couples and small families to get away from it all with their favourite canine chum. The picturesque village of Sneem is 6 miles away and for a day at the beach head to the paw-friendly Derrynane, 11 miles from the cottage.

The farmhouse is decorated and furnished in a traditional style and many of the rooms boast spectacular views across the surrounding rugged landscape. Enter the property into the cosy lounge, where a sofa and armchairs are arranged around a roaring open fire. Relax here, with the pup curled up on the rug, to watch the TV/DVD and chat about your day. The kitchen/diner is equipped with everything needed to whip up tasty meals for the group, which you can enjoy at the table by the open fire as you admire the far-reaching views along the coast. Upstairs, two pretty bedrooms await with characterful low windows. Completing the first floor is a refreshing family bathroom. Outside, dine alfresco at the table and chairs to the front of the cottage whilst Fido potters around on the lawn. There is private parking at the cottage.

Head into the colourful village of Sneem to peruse its pretty shops and refuel in one of the cute cafes or coffee shops. The village is on the Ring of Kerry and there are some gorgeous walking routes branching away from Sneem. Further afield, you’ll find restaurants and pubs offering live music in the bustling town of Kenmare (20 miles).
