This characterful cottage is set in a peaceful location on the Wild Atlantic Way, between the villages of Carna and Kilkieran. Sleeping six guests and one waggy-tailed pal, it’s the perfect retreat for families and friends looking to get away from it all. The area is awash with scenic footpaths to explore with your canine friends, from rocky coastal trails on the Iorras Aithneach Peninsula to the exhilarating tracks leading to the summit of Cnoc Mordain.
The property sits at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, surrounded by a stunning coastal landscape. Leave boots and dog leads in the porchway, before heading through to the cosy lounge/diner. This is the perfect place to unwind after a walk with the dog; stretch out on the large corner sofa to watch a film on the TV/DVD or gather at the dining table for a delicious home-cooked meal. For chilly nights, there’s a roaring wood burner nestled in a fabulous stone fireplace. You’ll find an alternative dining spot in the spacious kitchen/diner, along with all the equipment needed for a self-catering holiday. Completing the ground floor is a peaceful double bedroom and a contemporary family bathroom. The remaining bedrooms are nestled under a sloping ceiling in the eaves, with a double bedroom part separated by a partition wall from two single beds. Outside, the enclosed, leafy garden has a lawn area for the hound to play on and a choice of areas for al fresco dining. There is private parking available at the property.
The South Connemara coastline is known for its idyllic beaches, many of which boast stunning white sand and turquoise waters. Local highlights include Moyrus Beach and Mweenish Beach, both within 5 miles. For waterside strolls head to the beauty spot of Glenaruidmore Lough (3 miles). Both Carna and Kilkieran are traditional Irish villages, rich in culture and heritage. Enjoy live music in the friendly pubs and tuck into delicious local produce and seafood in the cafes and restaurants.
