This semi-detached cottage in the historic village of Backbarrow makes an excellent base for exploring the craggy fells, sparkling waters and quaint villages of the gorgeous Lake District National Park. You’ll be 2 miles from the southern tip of Lake Windermere and 8 from Coniston Waters, which both offer excellent trekking opportunities both humans and canines will adore. This welcoming property offers accommodation for up to four guests, and two furry-coated guests are also welcome.
The inside of the property has a homely feel. In the cosy lounge/diner, you can kick back with a book or watch a film on the TV, perhaps lighting up the wood burner if it’s a chilly evening – the dogs are bound to love that! A charming kitchen completes the ground floor, while, upstairs, you’ll find two cosy bedrooms – a queen-size and a twin – and a bathroom. The enclosed garden is a pleasant space to spend some time together, perhaps making a plan for the day over morning coffee. There’s a table and chairs plus a BBQ for cooking up feasts on mild evenings – make sure you save a sausage or two for you-know-who. You’ll also find a small garden space to the front of the house.
There are plenty of options for doggie-pleasing walks in the nearby area – you could start by heading up Bigland Barrow summit (0.5 miles) or Haverthwaite Heights (1.5 miles), or enjoy the shady trails of Summer Sides Wood (2.5 miles). If the sea air calls, make a beeline for Grange-over-Sands where you can explore the marsh beach before tucking into some fish and chips.
