Spend a relaxing break in the town known as the ‘Gateway to the Lakes’ at this gorgeous loft apartment in a central location in Kendal. With space for up to four humans and two doggies, this welcoming accommodation is just right for a couple or a small family hoping to discover the scenic delights of the world-famous Lake District. Spend your days exploring the damson tree-strewn landscape of Lyth Valley with your pets, followed by delicious meals out or cosy evenings in with your pets.

To reach the front door you’ll ascend several steps, followed by more steps on the inside to take you up to the top floor. All the rooms have vaulted walls, lovely skylights letting the light in and gorgeous dark ceiling beams that give the place plenty of character. The carpeted open-plan living area is an attractive space to kick back in, with plush sofas and a TV for restful evenings in. During the cold months, create a cosy sleep spot for your pets by firing up the flame effect electric fire. Two stylish bedrooms are available – one double and one zip-and-link king-size (which can be made up as a twin on request). Completing the property are a fresh and bright family bathroom and a handy utility room.

Kendal is a lively market town that’s popular with hikers and other countryside aficionados. You can enjoy a pint in a doggie-welcoming pub (100 metres) before exploring Kendal’s pretty cobbled streets, perhaps heading on a circular walk along the River Kent (150 metres) which runs through the town passing under several scenic bridges. Since your furry friends will no doubt be dying itching to tear along grassy paths and rural trails, we recommend heading to the nearby Gurnal Dubs (4 miles) which is an excellent wild swimming spot for both human and canine guests. At Lake Windermere (9.5 miles) they can sniff out delicious new scents while you absorb the views and, if they’re the boating types, even join you on a kayak or stand-up paddleboard.

Very clean, safe and central apartment. Owners have the cafe below (closes at 4pm). We had a late lunch there when we arrived and popped down for a takeaway bacon and mushroom roll the following morning which was lovely!

We really enjoyed our stay at Old Stables Loft! The space was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. It was a lovely place to relax and unwind.

Very clean, warm and comfortable. Well equipped. Well placed in the centre of Kendal close to the shops, walks and public transport. The owners were very friendly and welcoming.

An excellent apartment, very central in Kendal and perfect for exploring the South Eastern part of the Lake District. The accommodation was safe and quiet, and the hosts very friendly and helpful. Old Stables Loft is perfectly positioned for enjoying all the amenities of kendal. The apartment was immaculate and spacious but very cosy with lots of small thoughtful details to ensure a comfortable stay. The owners could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. Our expectations were exceeded in every way. We had a wonderful stay.
