This first-floor dog-friendly apartment in charming Kingswear's historic Conservation Area is part of a house built by the famous author, Don Collinson. Blending old-world charm and luxurious modernity, it offers memorable accommodation for groups of holidaymakers wishing to get away from it all in pretty South Devon. Pet-pleasing walks are a breeze thanks to the property’s location on the South West Coast Path, which you can follow along to Kingswear Castle (1 mile, dogs welcome) or, for the more ambitious, all the way round to Berry Head (6 miles). The spacious property sleeps up to six, with two dogs welcome to join you.
Kingswear and Dartmouth have a warm microclimate where spring comes early and the magnificent Magnolias bloom from mid February onwards, along with Camelias, Japonicas, purple Periwinkles, primroses and daffodils. Visit in March or April to catch them in their full glory. The micro climate also allows giant agave, tree ferns, palm trees and other subtropical flowers to flourish.
You’ll enter into a lovely open-plan kitchen and dining area furnished with a beautiful oak table for leisurely meals. The pleasant seating area offers outstanding vistas over the River Dart, while the elegant lounge has a Georgian stone fireplace, sofas plus plenty of rug space for doggie naps. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the room with natural light. Sliding doors from the seating area lead out to a private balcony featuring a classic wrought-iron bistro set for six. Enjoy relaxed evening drinks out here while your pet chows down on her holiday bone. The bathroom has a free-standing roll-top, claw-foot tub and a walk-in shower for that five-star-hotel feel.
There are plenty of dog-friendly activities in the surrounding area, whether that’s catching the passenger ferry (300 metres) across to Dartmouth (0.5 miles) or jumping on the Dartmouth Steam Railway (300 metres) to Paignton (7.5 miles). Little Dartmouth (2.5 miles) is another fantastic option your pet will go mutts for, and this gorgeous coastal landscape is ideal for walks and contains the ruins of a Civil War encampment which will thrill any history fans in your party.
