Head for the coast with a stay in this beautiful barn conversion which has history stretching back to the 1600s. The charming village of Lee is just a mile away with a patchwork of walking trails along the coast and through dense woodland, whilst Ilfracombe is 3 miles away boasting a selection of pup-friendly eateries and an opportunity to take your seafaring pups out to sea on a safari.
Seamlessly blending the old with the new, the living room retains its original charm with a red brick inglenook fireplace housing a wood burner, quaint windows set into the walls and two comfortable sofas set around the TV for evening entertainment. The kitchen/diner is a great social space with bi-fold doors opening out and bringing the outdoors in as well as a spacious, well-appointed kitchen area for cooking, a breakfast bar and a table seating six for family mealtimes. Completing the ground floor is a utility room with a WC for convenience. Upstairs are three bedrooms with the master king-size bedroom enjoying wooden beams across the vaulted ceiling, as well as an en-suite shower room. The twin bedroom is well-suited to children, with playful touches and skylight windows across the ceiling whilst the final room is a cosy double. There is also a stylish family bathroom featuring a double shower. Outside, a private, raised terrace offers a place to dine alfresco and the shared lawn gardens are a great place to walk the dog surrounded by pretty scenery.
Let your dog lead the way along the South West Coast Path from Lee Bay to Morte Point (3 miles), stopping off at Bull Point lighthouse along the way to admire the far-reaching views before venturing into Mortehoe to pick up a treat to eat. Whilst the local beach of Lee Bay is only seasonally dog friendly, there are plenty of other sandy stretches welcoming pups to come and play, including Woolacombe (5 miles), Putsborough (7 miles) and Croyde (8 miles). Spend a day strolling the historic harbour of Ilfracombe to spot Damien Hurst’s ‘Verity’ or walk the Ilfracombe Torrs, a zig-zag path with plenty to sniff along the way.
