Property code: OC-PCLET

Bring your four-legged companion with you to this quaint, three-bed cottage in Letheringham. Exactly how you hope a Suffolk cottage would be – think low wonky ceilings, beams, inglenooks, exposed brick, cottage-style doors and brick-tiled floors. And meld that seamlessly with up-to-date conveniences, furnishings and comfort, and you’re all set for a super-relaxing holiday. Ideally suited to a couple or a family, spend hours just planning your next move on the oasis-like terraced area or in the peaceful gardens.

As pretty as a picture inside and out, this cottage doesn’t disappoint. The cosy beamed lounge with its wood burner in the red-brick inglenook is an inviting space, with modern sumptuous seating tempting you in. In the annexe, you’ll find a snug with a Smart TV, seating, and a wood burner. The light and airy country-style kitchen has space to cook and a table for four to eat in comfort amid its rustic charms. Open the back door to the patio and gardens to let the outside in. The stylish bathroom with walk-in shower is downstairs here too, as is so often the case with cottages. There is also a kitchenette/utility room in the annexe, along with a king-size bedroom. Upstairs, the charming king-size bedroom offers sloping ceilings, beams and red brick, and leads through to a generous and calming twin bedroom. Directly outside, the patio proffers dining and lounging furniture, sheltered by a pergola and climbing plants. Further on, the lengthy, landscaped garden meanders down to the River Deben, but note it’s not fully enclosed so keep a close eye on children and furry swimming fans!

Multiple footpaths and quiet country lanes make for great walking or cycling with a happy woofer in tow. The market town of Wickham Market (3 miles) offers shops and eateries. Woodbridge, with its history of shipbuilding and rope making, is 7.5 miles. The National Trust’s fascinating Sutton Hoo (8.5 miles) is an important Anglo-Saxon burial site; dogs on leads are welcome on its walks.

  • 3 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 twin (access to twin room is via the master bedroom) in cottage, 1 king-size in annexe

This is a lovely old cottage and annex. The beds are comfortable and we all slept well. My grandsons, both tweens, loved the garden and space and particularly enjoyed rowing the boat up and down on the river. The water was so clean and sparkling we could easily see the various fish. I think we might make a second visit.

Fantastic holiday again. So perfect and peaceful. Just what I needed. Fishing was good again. Five pike caught and lost four. I was living the dream with the peace and wild life and the sunshine all week. I love being there. Have already recommended to many friends.

The cottage was well presented and well equipped. It was nice and peaceful and a good location for exploring Suffolk. There was no mobile signal but the wi-fi was decent enough

Absolutely lovely place so peaceful and quiet. I only booked pike cottage for a little getaway. Well in certainly stands up to the name. I caught twenty pike in six days yes 20. I had a great time with all of it. Would highly recommend to anyone. Definitely going back next year probably for two weeks. What a lovely bolt hole.
