Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life in this charming cottage for two in the unspoilt Derbyshire village of Elton. Nestled on the edge of the Peak District National Park, this retreat is a fantastic base for walkers and four-pawed explorers, with the long-distance Limestone Way passing just outside the village. After a long dog walk, return to your cute cottage to share a romantic dinner and snuggle up in front of the wood burner.

The adorable stone cottage is warm and inviting; enjoy cosy nights in watching the TV in the lounge, which features a beautiful stone floor, a fluffy rug for the pup to curl up on, and a roaring wood burner for chilly evenings. The compact kitchen has been cleverly designed to include everything you need to create delicious meals for two, to share together in the bright dining room. Next to the kitchen is a sunny conservatory, where you can sip a morning coffee overlooking the garden. Upstairs, a relaxing double bedroom awaits with an adjoining dressing room, and a bathroom. The walled courtyard garden has lots of little nooks and crannies for the woofer to explore and is also a lovely sunny spot for relaxing with a glass of wine.

The tourist town of Matlock Bath (9 miles) is well worth adding to the itinerary. Spend a relaxing afternoon perusing its independent shops and boutique, before enjoying a peaceful walk with Fido along the river or hopping on the paw-friendly cable car to investigate the stunning hilltop estate at The Heights of Abraham. The pretty town of Bakewell (7 miles) also makes a fun doggy day out, with a great choice of woof-friendly eateries, as well as a popular open-air market and access to the traffic-free Monsal Trail.

Beautiful and cosy little cottage in a lovely quiet village close to lots of places to visit and a perfect base for exploring the area. Owner and everyone in the village were friendly and helpful. Private garden to front was well used and lots of walks to be had from the front door. Smart TV and wifi worked well with half decent mobile signal. KitcRead morehen well supplied and a cake and brew making gear provided on arrival and very welcome. Double bed was super comfy and shower nice and powerful. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth and plenty of other spots 15-20mins drive with great range of supermarkets, cafes and pubs. Highly recommend Chatsworth gardens for a day out and Ilam Hall was lovely. Lots of prehistoric sites in the area, Nine Sisters, Minninglow, Arbor Low and great photos to be had from Chrome Hill near Langnor. All in a great holiday for man and dog and would be happy to come back. Hide

The Cottage at Elton was very comfortable with a cosy very efficient wood burner in the lounge,a modern bathroom, well equipped modern kitchen and enclosed garden, ideal for our dog. The TV was very modern,(p'haps to modern for luddites like us!!) The cottage was near to an excellenr community shop in the next village,Winster,Winster also has an eRead morexcellent pub,The Miners Standard which was very welcoming to dogs and the food was very varied and interesting. The cottage was in easy walking distance of walks like Stanton Moor or the long distance footpath near Robin Hoods Stride, nearby; also local attractiond like Matlock and Cromford are easily accessible from the cottage Hide

Loved our stay here, cosy, clean and well presented cottage. It had everything we needed and more. After exploring near by areas and towns we could come back and unwind in-front of the log fire! Lots of info of nearby area provided in the information pack left by hosts that was really helpful. Thank you

Great location for some excellent trails. Only downside was it said pet friendly but dogs were not allowed upstairs so a stair gate would have benefited. Also could have benefited with an outside hose to clean pets and boots. Internet was a bit slow which cause tv to lag at times but was signed up to prime so lots of choice.

This was a lovely cottage in a quiet town in the Peak District with beautiful walks nearby. If you have strong allergies or bay fever, just know its an old cottage near some farms so bring your allergy meds but the cottage was clean with great amenities.
