Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life in this charming cottage for two in the unspoilt Derbyshire village of Elton. Nestled on the edge of the Peak District National Park, this retreat is a fantastic base for walkers and four-pawed explorers, with the long-distance Limestone Way passing just outside the village. After a long dog walk, return to your cute cottage to share a romantic dinner and snuggle up in front of the wood burner.

The adorable stone cottage is warm and inviting; enjoy cosy nights in watching the TV in the lounge, which features a beautiful stone floor, a fluffy rug for the pup to curl up on, and a roaring wood burner for chilly evenings. The compact kitchen has been cleverly designed to include everything you need to create delicious meals for two, to share together in the bright dining room. Next to the kitchen is a sunny conservatory, where you can sip a morning coffee overlooking the garden. Upstairs, a relaxing double bedroom awaits with an adjoining dressing room, and a bathroom. The walled courtyard garden has lots of little nooks and crannies for the woofer to explore and is also a lovely sunny spot for relaxing with a glass of wine.

The tourist town of Matlock Bath (9 miles) is well worth adding to the itinerary. Spend a relaxing afternoon perusing its independent shops and boutique, before enjoying a peaceful walk with Fido along the river or hopping on the paw-friendly cable car to investigate the stunning hilltop estate at The Heights of Abraham. The pretty town of Bakewell (7 miles) also makes a fun doggy day out, with a great choice of woof-friendly eateries, as well as a popular open-air market and access to the traffic-free Monsal Trail.

Adequate size for two people. Was well equipped. Bed very comfy, the conservatory was a added bonus for bird watching. Ideally situated for driving and walking. Parking on the roadside was not a issue. Enjoyed our short stay in this cottage.

Lovely cosy cottage in an excellent location. Bed so comfy after day walking. We were disappointed there were no freezer facilities, not even freezer box in fridge. A big bonus for us was being able to start walks of various lengths from the village. Very friendly locals.

Beautiful and cosy little cottage in a lovely quiet village close to lots of places to visit and a perfect base for exploring the area. Owner and everyone in the village were friendly and helpful. Private garden to front was well used and lots of walks to be had from the front door. Smart TV and wifi worked well with half decent mobile signal. KitcRead morehen well supplied and a cake and brew making gear provided on arrival and very welcome. Double bed was super comfy and shower nice and powerful. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth and plenty of other spots 15-20mins drive with great range of supermarkets, cafes and pubs. Highly recommend Chatsworth gardens for a day out and Ilam Hall was lovely. Lots of prehistoric sites in the area, Nine Sisters, Minninglow, Arbor Low and great photos to be had from Chrome Hill near Langnor. All in a great holiday for man and dog and would be happy to come back. Hide
