Enjoy a family holiday, couples retreat or walking holiday with friends at this delightful character cottage on Abersoch's Bwlch Tocyn headland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This peaceful holiday home is less than two miles from the picturesque seaside village of Abersoch, and 2.1 miles from Porth Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth), a haven for surfing and water sports. Breathe in the atmosphere of Abersoch as you explore the abundance of shops, restaurants and trendy bars, or visit the long sandy beach to try paddle boarding or coasteering. Other attractions nearby include National Trust Plas yn Rhiw (7.7 miles) and Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw Gallery (4.8 miles) in Llanbedrog. For a fun-packed family day out, head to the seaside town of Pwllheli (8.6 miles). Younger children will love Funland Pwllheli, while Glasfryn Parc near Y Ffor (13.2 miles) has activities to suit all age groups, including go-karting, ten-pin bowling, soft play, and crazy golf.

This charming holiday home sits in an idyllic position on the Bwlchtocyn headland, overlooking Abersoch Golf Course. Built in the late 1790s, the original part of the house retains much of the original character, giving it a unique and charming feel. On the ground floor, the sitting room offers ample seating for large families or groups of friends. Whether you want to cosy up in front of the wood burner, or settle down for a movie night, this is a comfortable space to relax. A staircase with understairs storage leads to the twin bedroom. The kitchen/diner is a sociable space to cook and enjoy meals at the traditional dining table with bench seating and stools. Full-width doors from the kitchen lead out to the patio/garden. The rear entrance hall is equipped with church pew seating, space for hanging coats, and a cloakroom under the stairs. It also provides access to the sitting room and kitchen, and stairs leading to the first-floor bedroom suite. The property benefits from two ground-floor bedrooms; one double bedroom and one single bedroom, both served by a bathroom with a shower over the bath. On the first floor, you’ll find a king-size bedroom with glass doors opening out to reveal superb sea views to Llanbedrog headland and Snowdonia. This bedroom also benefits from an en-suite shower room. A twin bedroom with sea views also sits on the first floor - this bedroom is accessible via the staircase from the sitting room.

Outside, a patio area with steps leads to a long garden with Barlow Tyrie teak garden furniture, a Morso fire basket, and a Weber charcoal BBQ. The garden is landscaped with specimen palms and an ancient ‘cloud’ olive tree. In the second patio area, you will find two sun loungers, where you can sit back, relax and enjoy amazing sea views of Llanbedrog headland and Abersoch Beach.

My husband and I spent a delightful last week of October at Pengarth Cottage. We were more than happy with our choice. The location - up above Abersoch and close to the golf course - was ideal. The views from the master bedroom with en suite were unforgettable and changed with the changing weather. Here we were also in luck as the sun shone and thRead moree rain mostly kept at bay. The kitchen was spacious and very well equipped. Loved walking bare foot on the skate kitchen floor which was underfloor heated. The log burner fire in the comfortable lounge was used on a couple of evenings and we enjoyed the simple pleasure of watching the logs flame. The garden is beautiful but at this time of the year we were unable to take advantage of the sun loungers, bbq, and log burner. Another time at another season. The walk into Abersoch across the golf course was not different and saved having to take the car every time. Plenty to visit in the region. 5* recommendation. Hide

We found the cottage in an ideal position for what we wanted to do, it was like home from home as we live in a rural area in Lancashire. It was in easy walking distance of Abersoch, down the bridal path across the golf course and along the beach. The garden was ideally positioned with a superb view of Abersoch beach. Pengarth cottage was nicely Read moredecorated and had more or less everything we needed. We enjoyed the cosy lounge in an evening after a day out and about. The kitchen was large and was well appointed, with large double doors out into the garden. It would have been nice if there had been a microwave in the kitchen, The bedrooms were all very pleasant, with comfy beds and enough storage for all our gear. All in all it made for a very pleasant stay. Roy Edmondson Hide

This is a lovely property with attractive garden and views. The main bedroom with en-suite was a lovely large and bright space. The showers were good with plenty of warm water, and the beds were comfortable.

Just wanted to say what a wonderful long weekend we have had staying at Pengarth Cottage. From arriving on the drive we were blown away looking over the gate at the beautiful garden and cottage. On entering it didnt disappoint exploring who would have each bedroom which were all gorgeous and quirky in a beautiful way, so much thought has gone into Read morethe layout and interior. High quality bedding and towels all included, we had the upstairs double with en-suite it was huge with beams and Juliette balcony, just loved sitting in the chair when I woke looking out across the bay. Kitchen fully equipped and a good size with underfloor heating that was lovely, cosy lounge that we didnt use much as we had lovely weather and made use of the outdoor furniture, fire pit and bbq. Im sure Ive missed something but all in all a great holiday made super comfy and enjoyable with this beautiful accommodation. Will be back. Hide

We had a wonderful week at Pengarth Cottage for February half term. Michael was really accommodating and allowed us to have a Sunday changeover at the last minute which we really appreciated. He checked in with us in advance to make sure we had all the information we needed and to tell us about the house and the local area. On arriving the house waRead mores warm and cosy and we were especially grateful for the beds already being made up and plenty of fresh towels available. The views from the master bedroom are stunning - you can practically count the beach huts on Abersoch main beach. Watching the sun set from the Juliet balcony was a highlight. In the evenings a glass of wine in front of the log burner was a perfect way to end the day. There were toilet rolls, tea, coffee, crisps and a few dishwasher and washing machine tablets to get us started before we were able to get to the shops which helped us out a lot. It was great to have all the appliances which were in good working order and which made this a home away from home. Our children and little dog especially loved the garden which, again, has the most incredible views. Thank you so much for a great stay. Best regards, Maria Hide

In Pengarth Cottage we found a little gem. From the outside it is a quintessential Welsh cottage, low slung, hunkered into the hillside of Bwlchtocyn, whitewashed walls and pale blue woodwork, but the outside belies a seamless transformation. The old cottage perfectly segues into the modern rear extension. The new master bedroom and en-suite with Read morehoneyed wooden floors has far-reaching views across the bay towards Snowdon. The pale blue kitchen with double opening patio doors is a perfect place to cook and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the garden, the underfloor heating creating the perfect cosy feeling. Definitely a little gem. We visited in September and revelled in the peace, the view, the location. Near enough to Abersoch if needed but far enough away to feel as if in another world.
