Enjoy a romantic break for two (well, three including your furry best friend!) in this converted red-brick barn in the Suffolk village of Great Waldingfield. The interiors boast characterful features like old beams, seamlessly fused with slick contemporary design, tasteful decor and modern comfort. It feels stylish, yet cosy, with everything any couple or young family could desire. Take it easy at this holiday home-from-home recharging your batteries, or lead the way to explore this beautiful corner of the world, with walkies posing no problems on the many local footpaths and bridleways.
Part of a small complex of former farm buildings, gorgeous accommodation awaits in this single-storey property. The charming lounge/kitchen/diner is all in one but works brilliantly, with a comprehensive kitchen and table for two at one end of the space and a cosy lounge area at the other. The room has a gorgeous, vaulted ceiling featuring the exposed original beams that add a spacious feeling, while solid wood-style flooring throughout is handy for potentially damp or mucky paws. Retire at bed/nap time to the elegant double bedroom with calming neutral decor. Outside, a generous gravel courtyard with furniture is shared with the other properties for spending time in the fresh air, your faithful hound by your feet.
If you’re all mutts for walking, take advantage of the many footpaths through this idyllic rural countryside and there is a new secure dog exercise field next to the property. Be mindful of livestock, so definitely take the leads. Visit lovely Suffolk market towns such as Sudbury and Lavenham (both 3.5 miles). The former has artistic links as Gainsborough’s birthplace, while the latter is known for its well-preserved, half-timbered properties. Both offer history, places to eat out and independent shopping. Canine chums are allowed in the parkland of the National Trust’s Melford Hall (4 miles), just not in the house or gardens.
