Surrounded by peaceful countryside with unspoilt views of the nearby coastline, this rustic 16th-century farmhouse boasts some wonderful characterful features and a fetching homely atmosphere that’ll set tails wagging.

After hiking through the idyllic countryside, there’s no better remedy for weary paws and aching muscles than the soothing warmth of the wood burner housed inside a gorgeous inglenook fireplace at the centre of the ultra-cosy, rustic living room. Leave your canine companion to doze by the leather sofas as you follow the characterful exposed beams into the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner with enough space for the whole family to dine together as well as room for your top dog’s bowl. When bedtime calls, climb up the enchanting spiral stone staircase to find three bedrooms, each as charming as the rooms downstairs, that feature exposed beams and suburb views of the peaceful surrounding scenery. Before bedtime, playful pups will go mutts padding around the enclosed patio garden as you soak the last of the evening’s sun by dining alfresco with the superb countryside views as your backdrop.

Situated on the Glaslyn Estuary, the busy harbourside town of Porthmadog is rich in maritime history, boasting a fantastic range of shops and restaurants to explore with your canine companion in tow and sniff out the best local produce this area has to offer. Surrounded by peaceful countryside on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, there’s a myriad of walking paths and cycle trails that you’ll have a ball discovering with your four-pawed companion. Visible from the property, dive into the stunning surrounding scenery and rich local history by leaving no stick unfetched at Ynysypandy Slate Mill less than half a mile away.

There were just the two of us and our small dog who loved lying by Bertha, the toasty range in the kitchen.
