Occupying an idyllic seaside location around a mile from Bamburgh Castle, this renovated Armstrong Cottage offers a dreamy coastal escape. With ample accommodation for up to four guests and welcoming one happy hound, this chic accommodation is sure to set tails wagging. While away days racing through sand dunes and exploring dog-friendly attractions, before returning for cosy evenings by the wood burner or long summer nights beneath the stars in your private garden.

Set within a small cluster of similar properties built by Lord Armstrong for workers renovating the castle, this superb cottage exudes coastal chic. Rich colours, designer furnishings, and quality materials such as copper and marble give this beachside bolthole a truly sumptuous feel. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner forms the heart of this stylish abode. Sink into plush sofas post walkies, toes and paws warming in front of a roaring wood burner on chilly days. Rustle up tasty treats for all in the handsome kitchen, then take your pick of dining location with indoor and outdoor tables at your disposal. Two restful and elegant bedrooms, one king-size and one twin zip-and-link, offer flexible accommodation depending on your pack, while two en-suite shower rooms offer convenience and privacy.

History-loving hounds (and their owners) will adore Bamburgh Castle, where dogs are welcomed throughout the extensive grounds (though not in the castle interiors). And your playful pup is sure to adore the miles of dog-friendly golden sands at its base. Renowned for its fascinating history, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne welcomes curious canines on a lead in the ancient priory, with some great spots for walkies on the island. Alternatively, explore the captivating village of Seahouses (3 miles) or hop on a boat for a wildlife-watching excursion to the Farne Islands (note that dogs can’t visit the islands, but instead stay on the boat with the dog-loving crew).

Really lovely comfortable cottage my mother (83) and I spent an enjoyable week in. We were lucky with weather and made the most of the fact we were minutes from the beach. Its great that the cottage accepts a dog and all the local establishments are dog friendly too. Perfect sized home for the week, comfortable and had everything we needed (a teapoRead moret would have made it perfect, but if that is all I can suggest to add, it shows how lovely it is). Would definitely want to stay again Hide

The cottage is beautifully presented, with a great deal of attention given to its appearance and the initial impression on arrival. The location is excellent, with Bamburgh just a gentle 10 minute walk away and the coastal path directly opposite. However, our stay at the end of March highlighted some significant practical issues. The property wRead moreas extremely cold, and we had to reply on electric heaters set to high constantly just to maintain a comfortable temperature. This raises concerns for anyone looking to book during the colder winter months. We also experienced limitations with hot water supply, as only two people were able to shower before it ran out, which was inconvenient. In addition, the Wi-Fi connection was very poor, making it impossible to work remotely, and there were ongoing issues with the TV aerial, which added to the frustration. While the cottage is finished to a high standard aesthetically, it would benefit from greater focus on the essential comforts and facilities that guests require. Hide

It was a very clean, warm, well equipped and comfortable cottage. Situated in a quiet location and with good access across the dunes to a lovely beach. Good amenities in both the villages of Bamburgh and Seahouses.

Whilst the cottage is in a wonderful location with easy access to the beach, there are numerous issues which anyone booking should be aware off. Where you are charged a premium price for the cottage, you would expect a premium product however this is not the case. As highlighted by other customers, there are numerous small maintenance jobs that neeRead mored attending too, including door handles falling off, blinds not working and lamps not working. Along with this, a premium cottage advertised for 4 people should not have less than four of everything, where we were faced with 4 people expecting to celebrate my elderly mothers birthday with champagne and a slice of cake to only find 3 Champagne flutes and even worse only 3 side plates in the house this was particularly disappointing. In addition, the house needs a deep clean where skirting boards were dirty, there is mould in the bathroom and nothing had been moved to clean underneath including the bin! In summary a wonderful location, however sadly I think the owners feel that they dont need to work to attract customers and that shows in the end product. Reply from HolidayCottages.co.uk: Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we apologies the property fell short on this occasion. Please know maintenance have attended to address your issues and highlighted problem areas to the cleaners. Hide
