Bring your faithful furry friend with your nearest and dearest to holiday at this spacious three-bed cottage in central Aldeburgh. This comfortable home-from-home is in an excellent location that’s quiet, set one road back from the front, yet still a very handy 100 metres from the beach and 300 metres from the town centre. And anyone who has ever taken a dog to the seaside knows the sheer joy of having the beach within easy walking distance. You’ll definitely have to have fish and chips but, be warned, there’s often a queue, they’re that good!
This generous cottage has a large lounge with lots of sumptuous seating and a door opening out onto the courtyard, as does the dining room with its table seating five. There’s even an all-singing, all-dancing private office to facilitate remote working and video conferencing. Upstairs, pick from one en-suite king-size bedroom, one elegant twin (can be a double), and a pretty single. With lots of room and individual styling, you’ll feel like you’re in a hotel suite! The furnished courtyard outside is fully enclosed and private.
Sections of Aldeburgh beach are dog-friendly all year, but do check seasonal restrictions. Walk along the shingle to see the sculpture “The Scallop”, celebrating the life of the famous composer Benjamin Britten who called Aldeburgh home. The acclaimed Aldeburgh Festival of Music still takes place, partly at nearby Snape Maltings (6.5 miles) which also has shops and places to eat and drink. Aldeburgh is great for a mooch, with its Georgian buildings, independent shops, fresh and smoked fish for sale along the front plus the impressive Aldeburgh Museum housed in the ancient, half-timbered Moot Hall. There’s also no shortage of pubs and places to eat if you fancy a day off self-catering.
