Dogs and humans alike appreciate a bit of peace and quiet on holiday, so this three-bed modern house in an elevated part of Mevagissey is a dream. It''s within an easy 0.3 miles of the town’s harbour, pubs and shops, but far enough to be out of the touristy hustle and bustle. With its loft-style living accommodation and all mod cons it makes a great base for an extended family or family and friends to explore this Cornish gem and surrounding area.
You’ll feel instantly welcome in this detached house with its quirky upside-down living. On the ground floor there’s a wet-room-style shower room and three bedrooms: one king-size, one double and one twin. With individual ‘boutique’ decor, all three generous bedrooms provide elegant and cosy refuges to unwind. The first-floor wows with its stylish open-plan living comprising lounge, snug, dining, study and cooking areas in one large space – all together but equally clearly demarcated. Canine chums will love to dry off by the freestanding wood burner after a dip in the sea or just cool down on the practical wooden floor in summer. Access the patio complete with dining furniture and valley views from here.
There’s stacks to do right here in picture-postcard Mevagissey with its steep, narrow streets, working harbour and shops and galleries to mooch about. The nearest sandy beach is 0.7 miles or indulge your inner geek at the Model Railway – dogs on leads allowed. Or lace up your boots and grab the dog leads for a good stomp along the South West Coast Path. Further afield, be amazed by the Eden Project’s botanical feats (9 miles) or, keeping it green-fingered, head to the Lost Gardens of Heligan (2.5 miles). Dogs with well-behaved owners are welcome at both, just not in the biomes in the Eden Project.
