These stylish homes are perfect for families and friends to get together for a relaxing holiday with up to two pups (one per property) close to the Suffolk coast. Southwold is a lovely traditional seaside town, with its pier stretching into the North Sea and its towering lighthouse. As Southwold Beach has restrictions for dogs during the summer, head to nearby Denes Beach (0.5 miles), where your pup can run along the shingle all year round.
While the two homes are neighbours, and both have maintained a strong sense of Edwardian style, each one has its own distinctive feel. For families, Garden Lodge is ideal, with an open-plan ground floor and a cosy sitting room to watch TV while the logs crackle on the wood burner in the cooler months. The contemporary kitchen provides all the conveniences you’ll need to prepare a delicious meal which you can enjoy together in the dining area. Upstairs, you’ll find three bedrooms - a super-king-size, a double and a twin- and a family bathroom. Mole End is perfect for couples or for part of a larger family preferring their own space separate from Garden Lodge. The first floor consists of a double bedroom and bathroom. There is also a cosy sitting room where you can relax and a kitchen/diner with everything you need to prepare a romantic or family meal.
The properties are ideally located to take the rowboat ferry across the River Blyth to neighbouring Walberswick (1.5 miles), where you can explore the sand dune-backed beach and your pups can run around and sniff out an adventure. For a lovely coastal walk head to Kessingland (9 miles) and complete the 4-mile walk to Pakefield Beach. A day out at National Trust’s Dunwich Heath (11 miles) is a must and although your hounds must be on a short lead from 1 March - 31 August, there are dog-friendly routes available.
