Travel through Welsh history with this historic 400-year-old cottage in Snowdonia National Park. Head up a hill for a beautiful view and this scenic retreat, perfect for a couples’ trip or a family getaway. There’s space for one dog and six people, spread across three bedrooms. Spend your holiday walking, swimming, and exploring the gorgeous local area before heading back to a home base that’s comfortable and contains everything you might require.
Let Fido out to roam in the enclosed garden while you start the day off with a big breakfast in the spacious kitchen/dining room. Alternatively, make use of the outdoor dining facilities while you plan your day before heading out. When you return, there’s storage space for bikes, and you can all get clean and warm up in the walk-in shower or wet room. It’s easy to feel the timelessness of the cottage from the old stone exterior or the exposed Tudor ceilings inside, but there are lots of mod cons in the social spaces too.
This cottage is in a secluded spot, so you will have to travel to get to Porthmadog, which is 6 miles away. When you’re there, you’ll find great places to eat, with dog friendly-restaurants everywhere and you can all enjoy ice cream on the beach. Porthmadog is worth exploring for its local businesses and independent craft stores, great for souvenirs. If you’re ready for a full day of adventure, try surfing on Harlech Beach (15.5 miles away) or rock pooling at Black Sands Beach. Both allow dogs so they can enjoy a frolic in the waves just as much as human holidaymakers.
