Property code: OC-DCROSE

Warm soft fur by a crackling wood burner or out in the sunny cottage garden when you stay at this dog-friendly, Peak District holiday home in Youlgreave. Sleeping four guests, the delightful, two-bedroom retreat sits at the heart of the Derbyshire village, in a perfect position for enjoying the beauty of the national park as well as the amenities of the village. From here, head out with your pal to hike through the undulating countryside; climb hills and follow footpaths along rivers.

Step into this pretty stone cottage to find a warm welcome for pets and people. Light the wood burner in the stone fireplace in the lounge then let your chum relax on the rug while you watch TV or chat about your day. When puppy eyes start pleading for dinner, wander through to the kitchen/diner to serve your pal the fresh cuts you have bought him on one of your excursions. Rustle up something tasty in here too for the rest of your party to sit down to at the table. As night begins to fall, bid your furry friend goodnight and climb the stairs to either the double bedroom or the small twin, with its sloping ceilings that create some restricted head-height. The family bathroom is also here. After breakfast, head over to your private garden, beyond the shared rear yard, to have coffee in the sunshine with your contented canine by your side. Parking is on the street, subject to availability.

Discover many trails and footpaths in the area to enjoy with your four-legged friend at your heel. The 6-mile Lathkill Dale Walk is always a paws-down winner with dogs and owners as it passes spectacular limestone cliffs, waterfalls and abandoned mines. Robin Hood’s Stride, on the 46-mile Limestone Way, is just 2.5 miles from the cottage.

Cosy cottage right in the middle of Youlgrave. We travelled with a 4 and 6 year old. The cottage was perfect for us. It was well equipped with comfortable beds and a modern kitchen. The location was excellent with pubs, shops in the village. There was a large park for the children and lots of lovely walks from the house, or a short drive awayRead more. Hide

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the location was excellent to explore The Peak District. Very efficient heating meant that that house was warm and cosy. The village has all the amenities you may need with excellent food provided by the local hotel. Would recommend.

The cottage was in a great location for exploring the areas we wanted to visit. The bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed our 5 night stay. The welcome lemon drizzle cake was very lovely. As a couple, the cottage was a good size for a short break. Just a couple of things that could be improved - no initial logs provided for wood burner as ouRead moretlined in details, shower was temperamental re temp and water flow (just used bath instead) and parking over the Bank Holiday weekend was an issue. This cottage was amazing. It was so well kitted out compared to most holiday cottages whilst keeping the feel of the cottage. The only issue was parking but that comes with being in a small village. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

The cottage was really well presented and very thoughtfully equipped which we really appreciated. However the shower did not really work as could not keep a consistent temperature. It was either scalding hot or freezing cold and seemed to swing between the two without any middle ground. The corkscrew was broken and there was not a bottle opener Read moreat the property - we purchased one at the local shop and left for future occupants whilst you may consider a replacement. Also the lightbulb in the fridge no longer worked. Otherwise a lovely cottage in a great area. Hide

The location was perfect with choice of 3 pubs depending on personal choice and budget. Bulls Head was our preference you need to book fantastic food and service. The only improvement we would suggest is a Smart TV as channels limited with interference so if its a cold wet night you could watch a film of choice.

The main draw back is the lack of dedicated parking - my car was even scratched when parked outside the house (nearest car to the corner, but still away from the bend!)

A lovely characterful cottage in a great location, with very useful books on local walks etc. Very low ceiling on the stairs, so take care! Clear information on recycling/ rubbish and the cooker would be useful, details were provided on the hob but not the oven.
