Set your hearts on a stay at this exquisite barn, which is for just perfect for two guests and their delighted dog, at Kniveton, Derbyshire. Throw balls for your chum out in the sunshine here before settling on the patio to take in the views over a glass of wine or heading inside for some creature comfort. With exceptional walks right from the doorstep, this sumptuous couples’ retreat is less than 1 mile from the Peak District and just 2.5 miles from magnificent Carsington Water.

Open the door and wander inside with your faithful friend to find beautifully finished accommodation with more than a few luxurious touches. Climb the oak and glass staircase up to the lounge, which has exposed stone walls, to relax on the sofa in front of your favourite programme on TV, while your pal curls up on the rug. Head through to the stylish kitchen/diner, which features a central island and breakfast bar, to feed your furry friend and prepare a romantic dinner for two. When eyelids begin to droop, wander back downstairs to the king-size bedroom and adjacent shower room. Take your eager pup out to run about on the lawn before breakfast then return to the barn for coffee on the patio on summer mornings.

Plan trips out into the nearby national park to follow footpaths and trails with your delighted dog. Visit Minninglow, 6 miles away, a mysterious mound where ancient tombs are buried, and with a ring of trees, which is close to the High Peak Trail. Take your pal with you to see the StarDisc at Wirksworth, 7 miles away. This huge black granite star chart sits within countryside where pups can bound free. A beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. Terry couldn't have been more helpful, welcoming and full of suggestions for places (inc pubs) to visit during our stay. The local pub served great food and drink and was full of character. The cottage was small but ideal with everything needed for a relaxing stay. We will return!

This was our first time visiting the Peak District, and to say we loved it is an understatement. The cottage is just perfect. The owners are next door and so very accommodating, always there when needed but equally not encroaching on you. The local pub is literally a couple of mins walk that serves really good food and a relaxed atmosphere. The cotRead moretage is surrounded by fields and the views are stunning. Every morning we would sit outside on the patio, have a coffee and out little dog could run around without fear of traffic. The cottage is equipped with all you need should you decide to stay in for dinner. Its lovely and quiet, youll be guaranteed a good night sleep. We went out most days to experience as much as we could which was easily accessible with a car. This is the first time we have ever stayed away in the UK for a week. We did question if we should shorten it as thought before arriving we may get cabin fever. Not a chance, in fact we didnt want to come home. This is without doubt the nicest place we have ever stayed at in the UK so thank you. We will most definitely be back. Hide
