This chocolate-box retreat for families and friends is in the tiny Derbyshire village of Crowdecote, in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Head out your front door to enjoy scenic walks through the breathtaking Dove Valley, with its limestone cliffs and ancient woodlands. Nearby woof-friendly attractions include Chatsworth House and Gardens and the Heights of Abraham (both within 18 miles).
The stone cottage is nestled into the hillside and boasts far-reaching views across open fields. Inside, the decor is quaint and traditional, in keeping with the period of the property. A stone path and a few steps lead to the house, straight into the utility room, where you can store all your dog-walking gear. From here, move through to the country-style kitchen, where you’ll find a cute breakfast table and everything needed to prepare delicious feasts for the group. Up some steps is the cosy lounge, with its beamed ceiling and roaring wood burner. Unwind here, after a long dog walk, watching TV or simply admiring the countryside views. Rounding off the ground floor is a light-filled sunroom where you can share memorable mealtimes together whilst taking in the breathtaking scenery. Steep, cottage-style stairs lead to two attractive double bedrooms and a family bathroom. Outside, dine alfresco under the gazebo, whilst the pups sniff and explore the pretty cottage garden. Private parking is available for two cars.
As expected, the surrounding area is awash with picturesque walking trails to uncover with your furry sidekicks. Just 3 miles away is Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill – known locally as the Dragon’s Back – where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views across the valley. After an exhilarating hike, return to the village for well-earned refreshments in the friendly pub. Further afield, take day trips to the attractive Peak District towns of Bakewell and Buxton, both within 10 miles.
