See Fido’s furry ears prick up when he arrives at this delightful retreat. Sleeping two guests, the one-bedroom cottage nestles in a tranquil hamlet less than 1 mile from the Peak District. Grab the dog lead to strike out on picturesque, rural walks right from the doorstep. Return after your exciting excursions to put your paws up beside a roaring wood burner or out in the sunshine of the pretty garden.

Call Fido in through the front door of this bijou, single-storey retreat, with its open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner ready to offer a warm welcome. Head over to the wood burner on autumn and winter days and lay a fire to bring a cosy glow to the space. Top up Fido’s water bowl, give him his dinner then whip up a tasty meal and pull a stool up to the breakfast bar so you can dine too. After dinner, find a good film on TV and and settle into a comfortable chair while your contented canine dozes close by. When you are ready to lay your head for the night too, make your way through to the king-size bedroom, which has a bed that can also be arranged as two singles by prior agreement. The cottage has a bathroom where you can treat yourself to a long, hot soak. On summer days, take Fido outside with you into the delightful cottage garden while you have a glass of wine or even dinner out in the fresh air. There is parking for three cars at this property.

Take time out to visit impressive Chatsworth House, 5 miles away, where Fido can stroll through the park and the gardens with you. Walk 1.5 miles or drive 4 miles to Linacre Reservoirs, where there are trails that Fido is permitted to follow off the lead.

The cottage was very pleasant. There is an enclosed garden area but you need to go out of the cottage front door and through a gate on the side. The garden isn't accessible through the cottage and the road has a lot of fast moving traffic at times! The bed is enormous and so comfy. Chairs are comfortable too in the sitting room, TV was fine, smallRead more but we weren't there to watch TV. Everything you needed in the kitchen area. We thought the property is in a good location but we had difficulty seeing the entrance. Best to reverse in and drive out slowly. Might benefit from a mirror on the main road as my wife had to get out and check the traffic. We'd recommend this property with reservations for dog owners. Hide

Elm Croft was exactly what we were expecting from the advert. The owner gave helpful directions on how to find the cottage the day before our stay. The location was good for visiting the Peak District. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. The complimentary Granola Slices were a lovely surprise on our arrival.

The cottage was beautiful. We had days out to Matlock Bath, and Bakewell. We sat in the garden area listening to the birds. Just lovely and relaxing stay.

Exceptionally clean and well equipped. However the small, private garden was overgrown and lack a gate to prevent access to a small but fast road. Message from the Owner: Thank you for your feedback. The small garden area has now been enclosed for the benefit if guests, particularly those with pets.

I really enjoyed my stay here with [goldendoodle]. Nice touch with the welcome flapjack on arrival, was really delicious and the honey. Thank you. Everything works really well, easy to use and even the knives were really sharp. Great spot for dog walking with the Linacre reservoirs. My only criticism would be that I wasn't told where I could recyclRead moree my rubbish so ended up putting it all in one bag. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. Hide
