Located in the vibrant market town of Masham, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this beautifully decorated stone cottage has gorgeous original features and a warming open fire. A great destination for families, friends and two canine companions, it has walks right from the front door.
A mix of antique furnishings, modern amenities and country-style good looks make this property truly appealing. Reverse-level in design, it has a large entrance hall and two twin bedrooms on the ground floor, one of which has an en-suite shower room. Head up to the first floor, and the lounge with its exposed beams and coal fire is welcoming and comfortable, a lovely space to return to after your day’s adventures. The spacious kitchen has plenty of room for your pups’ bowls and beds, and features a farmhouse-style dining table with a long settle: just the place to get your maps out and plan future expeditions. Completing this floor is a double bedroom and a family bathroom with a corner bath and shower.
Masham (pronounced ‘Massam’) is positioned between Harrogate and the Yorkshire Dales in a beautiful region of Lower Wensleydale. The town is famous for its family-run breweries, steam engines and annual sheep fair, and has a thriving community of artists, authors and craftspeople. When you’ve explored its shops, galleries, pubs and places to eat, venture out on one of the many walks nearby – perhaps striding across the Burn Valley to the Victorian folly of Druid’s Temple, around 5 miles away, or strolling the easy, 3-mile ‘Masham Leaves’ walk, which meanders around a sculpture trail and through pastures and woodland alongside the Rivers Ure and Burn.
