Situated in the fishing village of Sandsend where the North York Moors meets the coast, this charming 18th-century cottage offers a cosy and welcoming base for a couple or small family looking to explore the area. Set back from the main road, this holiday home enjoys fine views along the coast to the romantic ruins of Whitby Abbey, while its proximity to the beach and woodland walks is sure to set tails wagging for your four-legged friends.
Originally built as a home for a servant of the Marquis of Normanby who once owned the entire village, this two-bedroom cottage has plenty of charm and a subtle coastal theme throughout. Pass through the picket fence and step in the front door, directly into a light-filled lounge. Snuggle into the comfortable sofas after a walk, while your dogs jostle for space in front of the wood burner. Prepare delicious dinners in the galley kitchen at the rear of the property, then gather the pack around the dining table in the lounge window to share good food and conversation. When everybody is suitably weary-pawed, head up to the two bedrooms, a twin on the first floor next to the family bathroom, and the main king-size room at the top, which has superb views along the coast.
Although the property has no outside space, it’s only 200 metres from the beach, which is a great spot for your pups to let off steam in the morning. While there are some dog restrictions during the summer, if you walk away from the main zone towards Whitby there’s plenty of space for your dogs to get the zoomies! Alternatively, Mulgrave Woods Estate backs onto the village, offering lovely walks past waterfalls and a ruined castle. The popular seaside resort of Whitby is around 3 miles away, where you can explore Whitby Abbey with your canine companions and enjoy fish and chips by the beach.
