Spend time in the elegant lounge, reading a book, watching TV, or enjoying a singsong around the piano. French doors open from here, allowing Rover to amble in and out. The kitchen/diner is a sociable space, with a large dining table and all the equipment needed to cater for the group. There’s also a utility room for drying dog-walking gear. The cottage has a stylish family bathroom and three fabulous bedrooms, one of which has a Jack and Jill en-suite shower room (linking to the utility room). Completing the holiday home is a games room with a PlayStation console and table football. Outside, relax in the enclosed garden, which has a large lawn and a patio for al fresco dining.
The unspoilt landscape of the North Pennines is a paradise for walkers. The long-distance Pennine Way can be joined at Langdon Beck, 14.5 miles away, or you can head to Hamsterley Forest (9.5 miles) to sniff and explore the tracks and trails. On a summer’s day, the walk near High Force Waterfall is perfect, with many shady spots for your hairy companion. Alternatively, admire the landscape from one of the paw-friendly steam trains of the Weardale Railway (2 miles).
