This sweet two-bedroom cottage is in the pretty village of Portinscale, within the Lake District National Park. It’s cosy and airy, with modern furniture and a lovely outside seating area you can enjoy. There’s a dog-friendly pub within 300 metres and plenty of tail-waggingly good walks leading right from your front door. With room for up to four guests and two pets, this accommodation is just right for a small family or two couples.
On arrival, it’ll be easy to spot your temporary dwelling – the top half of its facade is painted brilliant white while the bottom is original stone, and there’s a red Royal Mail letterbox built into the wall. The inside is beautifully refurbished with modern fittings, cheerful colours and tasteful artwork on the walls. In the cosy lounge, you can relax on the welcoming sofas while your pets stretch out by the wood burner-effect electric fire. When you fancy a cup of tea in the fresh air, head to the side of the cottage where there’s an attractive raised seating area with a table and chairs for two.
The local area has plenty for you to sniff out with your pet. Why not walk down to the Derwent Water Marina (300 metres) and hire a boat for a fun family outing on the water with your pet? Alternatively, you can walk all or some of the 10-mile walk around Derwentwater. Bassenthwaite Lake (4 miles) is another scenic spot you can explore, while Keswick (2 miles) has an excellent selection of shops and cafés for enjoying with your pet in tow.
