Located in the charming Devonshire village of Stoke Fleming, this cottage offers human and canine nature lovers a perfect base for exploring the surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and gorgeous coastline. Let your pet lead the way on satisfying walks along the scenic South West Coast Path (1 mile), then head home to your beautifully presented accommodation for a relaxing evening in. With room for up to four guests and two furry companions, this property suits a family unit or two couples holidaying together with their pets.

The accommodation has an upside-down layout, with its king-size bedroom on the ground floor – complete with a gorgeous en-suite bathroom with an exposed stone wall and roll=top bath Upstairs you’ll find the living space, which has wooden floorboards and another lovely wall in exposed stone. This spot is excellent for cosy evenings in with your pets; you can sink into the sofas and watch something on the TV while the pets doze off on the rug. The modern kitchen, featuring high-end appliances, is ideal for cooking up holiday meals using, to be enjoyed either at the wooden island/breakfast bar or, for a more formal experience, the fold-out dining table.

You’ll be in a village location 100 metres from a dog-welcoming pub and a shop for picking up essentials. While the nearest beach at Blackpool Sands is seasonally dog-friendly, Slapton Sands (4 miles) welcomes dogs all year round, and is also home to a large freshwater lake offering a scenic circular walk you can sniff out with your pets. Little Dartmouth (1 mile), an idyllic coastal landscape with the ruins of a Civil War encampment, is another location for pet-pleasing strolls. This was the perfect location, we enjoyed lots of walks and used the buses. The cottage was beautiful and the added advantage of the village pub and free parking nearby made this a place wed love to stay in again.

Property smelt a little musty on arrival, perhaps it had not been rented for a while. TV system temperamental.

A comfortable property in a great village for us but there was no mention of the additional 8 steps up to the first level at the back of the walk way. Then there is the 7 steps up to the front door (as mentioned in the write up) as well as negotiating taking the cases up to the first floor. Not ideal for 2 single ladies. If we had know this we probRead moreably wouldnt have booked this cottage. Also the lack of towels was disappointing. Only 2 towels per person for a week. The larger of the towels barely wrapped around after a shower. A bath sheet would have been nice. There is also a need for a hand towel to be provided in the kitchen as using the tea towel to dry your hands as well as dry the dishes is hardly hygienic. These issues could easily be solved at very little expense but would make a much more pleasant stay. Loading and unloading was quite stressful as we had to park illegally, on a junction and on a bend - not ideal. Otherwise the cottage had everything else we needed and expected for our stay. Hide
