Property code: OC-CB662

A lovingly restored hop pickers hut enveloped by the tranquil Spelmonden Estate in the Kent countryside, this romantic bolthole is the perfect rural escape for a couple and their furry-tailed third wheel. Crunch through leaves and scamper along woodland paths beneath the towering conifers at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest (4 miles), before tucking into an al fresco dinner in the courtyard with a splendid country backdrop.

Steeped in history, this traditional property boasts a beautiful modern interior with clean lines, crisp minimalist styling, and calming neutral tones. Towel off soggy paws at the entrance then step inside the airy open-plan living area. Rustle up some post-adventure treats in the handless gloss kitchen and treat your hungry hound to a well-earned chew, then perch at the breakfast bar with a drink and nibbles. Pop a bottle and enjoy a cosy dinner at the wooden dining table then sink onto the sofa and cuddle up with a sweet treat and a snoozy dog by your feet. Rest up in the peaceful double bedroom and drink in the lush countryside views from the patio door or pull out the sofa bed to accommodate extra guests. Bask in the sunshine after morning walkies or fire up the BBQ on balmy afternoons and get lunch sizzling.

Roam the landscaped grounds of the 14th-century Scotney Castle, 4 miles, where parched pups can refresh at the chilled water bowls dotted in the castle gardens and tearoom terrace. Get tails wagging as you amble along the banks of the reservoir at Bewl Water, 5 miles, with plenty of intriguing wildlife and forestry scents for your curious canine to sniff. Venture to the pretty town of Tunbridge Wells, 10 miles, and scope out the quaint English pub nestled beside the Lamberhurst vineyards that warmly welcomes four-pawed patrons.

A delightful cottage, beautifully located to visit Kent, Sussex and Surrey. Disabled friendly though probably not for a full-time wheelchair user. I use crutches and a walker indoors and it was very easy for me. The owner kindly provided a shower chair which was fabulous. I was initially concerned about the toilet height but that was fine too. The London Hopper was perfect for us, the grounds outside were really well maintained. Inside, there were several little personal touches such as a bottle of fruit juice, milk, tea/coffee, etc for us to enjoy. The appliances were all of really good quality, the washer dryer was great, air conditioning really beneficial and lots of information left Read morereadily available. Very clean on arrival, towels and bedding all provided. Hide
