Explore the picturesque South Norfolk countryside with your faithful friend then return home to this charming retreat to relax together afterwards. With a beautiful lawned garden to make soft ears prick up in the summertime and an open fire to warm chilly paws in winter, this is very much a canine-friendly cottage for all seasons. Sleeping five guests, the three-bedroom former Post Office nestles in the village of Shotesham, 8 miles from the centre of Norwich and 5.5 miles from the Norfolk Broads.

Step into this gorgeous abode, with its exposed timbers and brickwork, to find yourselves in a welcoming lounge. Let your pal stretch out while you lay a fire and find a good film on TV. The farmhouse-style kitchen/diner has ample space for your four-legged friend to have his dinner and bed down in his basket for the night. Take a cup of tea through to the garden room to have a little quiet time with your contented canine as you gaze out over the greenery. There is also a family bathroom downstairs. Pat your pal goodnight in the kitchen and then make your way up to one of the two double bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room, or the single. Please note the internal stairs are steep which may pose challenges for guests with limited mobility. Find a washing machine and tumble dryer in the garage for rinsing through damp dog towels. Spend sunny days out in the garden, cooking on the BBQ and sitting around the fire pit, with your delighted dog joining in the fun. Guests can park in the church car park opposite.

Venture 1.5 miles from the cottage to let your chum run free in the 2-acre field at Shotesham Paw Park. Pick up the Boudicca Way outside the village and tire out furry feet with a scenic walk in the direction of Diss or Norwich.

A very home-y home, full of character and well stocked with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The garden is lovely, with flowers, herbs, and bumble bees. The host is responsive to questions. The community is warm and welcoming. The walking is plentiful, well-marked, and easy to plan with the host-provided maps.

Lovely, homely cottage which was a great base to explore the surrounding area. Deceptively big. Garden had a real country cottage feel and was secure for our dog to be able to wander around safely.

The cottage, bedding and all of the facilities were excellent, we all enjoyed our stay a great deal. The fact that you change the leaving time from 10 to 9 (according to the guest notes) was disappointing. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your feedback, we will check the guest notes but can confirm check out is at 10am.

Had a lovely stay at the Old Post Office Cottage. It is situated in a lovely village surrounded by fields and good walks. It has everything you need for your stay and is very well equipped particularly in the kitchen with tea and coffee and condiments and kitchen equipment. Staying in the Old Post Office was a delight. What a refreshing change, when so many holiday cottages are essentially indistitnguishable from bland chain hotels, to stay somehwere so completely individual. It was like being allowed to stay in a friend's house while they were away for a week. The cottage has been beautifully restored and the villageRead more, Shotesham, is as idyllic an English village as you could find - the sort of place that you don't believe can still exist. Highly recommended. Hide

The cottage and location were both idyllic. However, the roads to get there were very narrow and scary! Drivers in these parts are impatient and rude. Beware Norwich Park and Ride sites. Our car was hit by an anonymous driver while we were in the city and no cctv. Now have expensive repairs.

Access to wifi is good and essential as we had no phone signal. Walled garden is good for dogs (no escape exits) as well as humans

Our stay at the cottage was truly delightful! The accommodation was immaculate and exuded a cozy ambiance. We were particularly impressed with its dog-friendly nature, which allowed our furry companion to join us for the adventure. Our family had an unforgettable time, creating memories that we will cherish forever.
