A charming traditional Cornish cottage in pretty Marazion is the perfect location for a romantic retreat for a couple who want to share a holiday with their much-loved pets. This characterful property welcomes up to two, well-behaved dogs and is within a 0.5-mile stroll of the town centre, famous for its view of St Michael’s Mount. Historic Marazion has a large, sandy beach and is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful coast and countryside of West Cornwall.
The whitewashed terraced cottage front door opens onto an open-plan lounge/diner, with ceiling beams and a stone fireplace housing a wood burner— an inviting spot for top dogs to curl up for a snooze and humans to snuggle up on the comfortable sofa. A compact, fully equipped kitchen has a rooftop view of St Michael’s Mount and leads to an enclosed, rear courtyard. This whitewashed space, with a table, chairs and plants can also be reached via a side passage. Stairs from the lounge lead up to the inviting king-size bedroom and a stylish bathroom.
Stroll down Marazion’s narrow streets to enjoy a mix of cottages, fine buildings, shops and galleries, then stop for a drink at one of the many cafes. While daytime restrictions apply on the main beach in the peak months of July and August, your four-legged friends can run free on the eastern stretch of the sands. Take the easy, 2-mile walk along the level seafront to Penzance, passing Long Rock Beach, which also has a year-round dog-friendly section. Historic Penzance offers shops, galleries, the magnificent seafront lido and beautiful Morrab Gardens where pets on leads can investigate intriguing new smells. Visit St Ives (9 miles), Mousehole (9.5 miles) and the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek for great family days out.
