This comfy, contemporary property makes a great base for friends or family to enjoy Whitby’s attractions and explore the surrounding area. It has open-plan living, two bedrooms with en-suites, and an enclosed garden – safe for your furry family members – with a decked area and a summerhouse. The cottage is in a lovely, quiet location yet close to everything in the town centre.
The lounge/kitchen/dining room is the heart of the home, where you can relax, cook, and eat together, and French doors lead out to the garden. There’s also a downstairs WC. Upstairs, are two tastefully decorated bedrooms, a king-size and one that can be set up as a twin or a king. Both have en-suites, and the king-size bedroom also features a Juliet balcony. Out in the fully fenced garden, there’s a deck with garden furniture and a sweet cabin which houses the washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as a sofa and a TV/DVD – perfect for chilling out.
Whitby sits on the banks of the River Esk and there are beaches on both sides of the estuary (both 1 mile from the house) so take your pick! Tate Hill is sheltered and sandy, and you can walk your four-legged friends there all year round. West Cliff Beach is bigger, with a children’s paddling pool, donkey rides on the sand, and deckchair hire. Explore Whitby’s history at St Mary’s Church and the Abbey (a 1-mile walk or a 2-mile drive), wander around the harbour (1 mile) and pick up some fish and chips, or head out of town to the fascinating Museum of Victorian Science (8 miles). There are lovely coastal walks including one to Saltwick Bay 1.5 miles away, where canine companions are welcome; it’s also a great beach for fossil hunting.
