The peaceful annexe is located in a quiet lane in the village of Sidford. Sleeping two guests and one hound (or two small pups), the property makes a fantastic romantic retreat for couples looking to switch off and relax. There are some gorgeous walks branching away from the village, including The Byes Riverside Walk that leads to Sidmouth (2 miles). The annexe has a charming courtyard that’s fully enclosed for your four-pawed pal.
The ground-floor annexe is next to the owner’s bungalow and enjoys relaxing views over the surrounding countryside. The property has a real home-away-from-home vibe, with cute accessories, artwork adorning the walls, and a collection of pretty houseplants. The bright and airy lounge/diner has a comfortable sofa and a rocking chair to relax on to watch TV. On a summer’s day, throw open the patio doors so Fido can amble in and out to the courtyard. Up two steps you’ll find the kitchen, with everything you need to rustle up delicious dinners for two. The double bedroom is decorated in cool, relaxing tones and from here you can access the lobby, where you can store all your dog-walking gear. A stylish bathroom completes the property. Outside, three steps lead to an enclosed courtyard, with a table and chairs, BBQ, and far-reaching rural views.
Set off on a walk around Sidmouth, to admire the Regency-style architecture which makes the town so unique, followed by lunch in one of the independent cafes or restaurants, many of which serve delicious local produce and fresh fish. After lunch, head down to Town Beach, which has a section that welcomes woofers all year, or stride out along the South West Coast Path to explore the magnificent Jurassic coastline. Alternatively, head to Fire Beacon Hill Nature Reserve, for panoramic views across Lyme Bay.
